I swear this stuff gets more ridiculous every trade deadline.

Trade now apparently is Amare for Z, Hickson, Danny Green and they're 1st rounder.

These trade rumors are killing me. It seems like I heard about this rumor a few days ago. The press just seems to repackage these trade scenarios and then send them out again as news. At least the Suns get a first round pick in this package.

Sources say that Amare Stoudemire has no interest in playing for the Cavaliers, and that the Cavs have started looking at other options.
Antawn Jamison is one of those other options, and while this doesn't mean that Amare is definitely not going to Cleveland, it no longer seems nearly as likely to happen.
Source: The News-Herald

Been debunked. Check Amare's twit. He said he didn't mind playing along side Shaq. The only person that did was Nash.

Actually, he is/will become an NBA player, IMO, pretty much similar way like Dudley did.

He was a long-time 6th man of a very strong UNC team, later he promoted to a starter when they won the NCAA championship.

He is a solid defender, passer, shooter with average (and I'm generous) athleticism.

Interesting how quiet Nash has been thru all this. Quiet since the team started losing games, quiet about the very real possibility that his All-star PF will be gone very soon.

If Sarver/Kerr make a deal thats clearly another move geared towards cutting costs rather than improving the team i'll be very interested as to what type of reaction Nash will have(if any).

Something tells me that the face of the franchise will still be at peace with what surrounds him.

From the All-star weekend:
* Nash on the possibility of fellow West All-Star starter Amar’e Stoudemire being traded: “Amar’e is a huge part of our team. He is one of the most unique players in the league with his athleticism, skill level, ability to shoot and finish. I’m always under the impression that it’s a salary thing. Obviously, Amar’e wants the max and ownership, you know, I guess could say doesn’t think it could afford that. To me, that’s the underlying relationship.”

* Nash again on a possible Stoudemire departure: “We’re disappointed we’re not doing better but we have overachieved. It would be disappointing to lose Amar’e for sure. We all feel such a sense of pride to play with him and to have him as a teammate. For us to lose him at this point after all these years would be very difficult for us. We’d love to play out the season. I know there’s not just basketball involved here. It’s unfortunate.”

He feels we have overachieved, maybe I am reading too much into this, but that says to me that Nash is saying, "We really don't have a competitive team (at least skill wise)."

That is what it sounds like to me too.

I get the sense Nash made his peace last summer about not winning a title (for now at least). He liked the comfort of Phx, and the chance to run with a younger team playing 'the right way' (ie, hard, together, etc). I think the 05-06 season (when Amare was down) made a lasting mark on Nash. They just had so much fun that season, and got great results from playing as a true team. JMO, but I think he wants that again vs riding the bench or something on a title team.

Hence the competitive team comment. Not competitive for a title, but still coming to play each night.

As Paul Coro's blog says ..."and so we wait."

http://www.azcentral.com/members/Blog/PaulCoro/74049

In Cleveland he's be the 3rd wheel, and Amare wants to be 'da man' so Miami might be a better choice for him.

Amare really is in the cat-bird's seat here, and hey, good for him.

It looks like he might get a shot at a title or playing in his home state. In either case, he gets to play with another superstar (as with Nash here). And he'll get paid.

It's not like he's got bad choices.

Cleveland trades for Jamison, per Yahoo.

"The Cavaliers are sending center Zydrunas Ilgauskas, a first-round pick and the draft rights to Emil Preldzic to the Wizards. The Wizards also will receive Brian Skinner and Al Thornton from the Los Angeles Clippers. The Cavaliers will get point guard Sebastian Telfair from the Clippers. The Wizards will send Drew Gooden to the Clippers.

The Clippers will buy out Gooden, a league source said.

Now the Clips have the cap room to sign a max player this summer. How many teams does that make in the sweepstakes?

Knicks, Heat, Bulls, TWolves, Nets and Rockets are real close too depending on what the cap is.

from Coro:

In reality, the chances of Stoudemire being traded went from strong to doubtful Wednesday, when Cleveland pulled power forward J.J. Hickson out of a potential deal with the Suns. Despite talk of Hickson being a Stoudemire replacement, the Suns had other plans with a move in the works to send Cleveland center Zydrunas Ilgauskas to Utah in a three-way deal that might have given the Suns a star power forward in Carlos Boozer

Interesting - I never saw Boozer as fitting into the Suns system. I guess he can play the PnR pretty well with Williams, and he's a free agent this summer, so it makes sense if they wanted to trade Amare and still make the playoffs.
