true, but he's not the turnover machine that Anderson is and the bottom line for me is that he's been a winner, most of the time without any kind of running game (Westbrook had about 4 very good years out of Donovan's 10 years there).

I thought the Redskins gave McNabb a new deal --

620 is reporting that Matt Lienart has been quoted as saying "I've outplayed the competition". Missed the rest. Sorry

Just saw some Leinart news on Twitter -

Leinart said today that he "really wants an explanation" of why there's a QB battle and he hasn't talked to Whis. Whis said he has an open door policy.

Leinart also said "I feel like I outplayed the competition." Said demotions must be for off field reasons.

Side note - LSH (concussion) and Jason Wright (toe) sat out of todays practice.

Whose TWITTER account?

McNabb has been beaten up pretty badly his entire career... he'll be 35 next season. I just can't see how a 35 year old, beaten up McNabb would be worth the money he'll demand... and behind our o-line, his chances of playing in more than 5 games are like, Zilcho!

well, what we did with our O-line didn't make much sense to me either. completely revamping the entire thing and depending on a) a 7th round rookie in essence and b) reaching to get an over-the-hill twice abandoned in two years guard who can't pass protect to save his life were amongst a host of questionable decisions made this off-season.

you HAVE to let him walk. I mean, if we're going to let TALENTED top ten picks walk, what kind of organization are we if we keep the busts?!

Totally agree. I don't understand the argument that he should be resigned because he was a former high first round pick. That shouldn't factor one bit into his future role on this team. You're either a good football player or not. At the moment, he's not and I wouldn't be worried one bit if we passed on him.

That's very interesting. If Whisenhunt's policy has always been open, and he didn't talk to Matt about it....

Neither would I. I would love it actually.

Yeah....what the hell cut him....anderson has been the man in preseason....no way he reverts back to his Cleveland suckiness.

He hasn't talked to Wiz... but he'll talk to the media.

He's a self-entitled punk bitch.

Toast is a good nickname, but I'm calling his bitch-ass Winehart from now on.

I find it interesting that Leinart thinks his demotion is for "off the field" reasons. He's stayed out of the limelight since the beer bong incident so I wonder if he feels Whis thinks he hasn't put in enough time in the film room. Or if he hasn't gelled with his teammates?

I can see Leinart not talking to Whis. Did anyone else notice that Leinart wouldn't even look Whis in the eye when he was talking to him during a timeout (during the Bears game)? Not that it was surprising but it was still odd looking.

Washington gave McNabb a two-year $24 million extension.

:doi:

Umm link?

Good try though. He's a free agent after 2011 - you are probably referring to this -

6/11/2009: Signed a two-year, $24.5 million contract. The deal contains $23 million guaranteed, including a $3.3 million roster bonus in the first year and $3.5 million of McNabb's 2010 base salary. Another $1 million is available through incentives. 2010: $5 million (+ $6.2 million guaranteed roster bonus due 5/5), 2011: Free Agent

Probably should be a little more sure before you throw the :doi: around, eh?

He's already injured in the preseason too.

More Tweets from Urban -

Leinart -"This probably goes beyond football, beyond the field."

Whis - "We are always trying to pick the best players to try and win, that's what this process is about..."

Whis - "This is not about whether you like somebody or don't like somebody."

It's now starting to get ugly and IMO it's clear that Leinart will get cut/traded if he's not named the starter.

Yes, I would describe this situation as ugly. It's never good when a disgruntled player and coach use the media to communicate.

those statements just dont seem all that heated or ugly to me.

It's sending a message that Whisenhunt will only start the players he feels give the team the best chance to win games. It doesn't matter if you were drafted in the 1st round, undrafted or a high priced FA. Everyone has to earn the starting position.

Exactly. But it seems a few here can watch a few preseason games and understand everything our coach and players see in practice and games every week. Every conversation and play. Matt's been perfect and Anderson sucks.
