Matt should have been shipped out long ago if that's the case.
Totally agree with this! Just not sure if you can put that all on Whiz however...
Matt should have been shipped out long ago if that's the case.
If that's the case, then Whis should have had him out of Dodge LONG before this.
I think it's more likely they don't have much chemistry together...matt probably pusses around when he's with Whis because he's terrified of him, and Whis probably thinks Matt should man up and get with the program. Oil and water...that's my take.
If Whis comes in and says "Matt, take control of the effing huddle, get your people on the same page, you need to run this offense. Go downfield, don't worry about making mistakes" and Matt goes out and doesn't and then says "I'm playing well" then that's on Matt. If it happens again, then it's on Whis. If it happens again...it's on Whis. If it happens again...you get the point. BTW, if this is the case, it didn't just happen this year for the first time. Being a full-on idiot isn't something you wake up with....Matt should have been shipped out long ago if that's the case.
I not disagree with any of that. Problem is that this is still a bidwill run organization. They could be saying "Ken we have given this kid 40 million dollars. Please for heaven sake try and make it work. if you can't ok but now that Warners gone please give it your best shot. If it doesn't work and you choose DA fine. But give the kid the chance to turn himself" etc.... Etc.. That we will just never know!If that's the case, then Whis should have had him out of Dodge LONG before this.

If Matt turns out to be one of those guys that practices lousy but is a gamer when it counts he will make Whiz look pretty bad if he leaves and finds success elsewhere.
Thing is that won't mean a thing because its an entire different set of circumstances. He wouldn't have succeeded here because he couldn't run this offense for this coach.
Cmon guys its not like we have a lame duck Rich Kotite coach here who is about to get rid of our prodigy QB.
This is Ken Effing Whisenhunt - Nuff said.

This is the bottom line. Regardless of Toast's skillset, confidence and future career, it is abundantly clear that there is something about being in Whis' offense that simply won't work for Toast, be it skill required, leadership or simply working relationship (or a combination of the three). Even if Toast goes on to multiple probowls and wins a Super Bowl or two, the deal is that he never would have done that here (because he won't do that elsewhere playing timid). Perhaps a change of scenery will be good for all parties here.
I wonder if Matt's play this preseason has hurt or helped his trade value....
Do you really? Our first team offense has looked pathetic against average competition. I'm not saying it's all his fault but I don't see how that could have helped his trade value.
Steve
Completing 80%+ of his passes and over 100 passer rating in these hostile conditions has to be worth something.
I guess. It would be better than routinely throwing downfield and missing your receiver. Still, if they both lead to 3 and outs it's not much to hang your hat on.
Steve
I'm having a hard time believing the players aren't divided over this... I mean, even though they are elite athletes, they're just people.
Look how we are divided and we're just people too
speak for yourself.we're just people too
Exactly my point. If you start Leinart, you might have some internally question what's going on. You do it in the media, and you have EVERYONE question what is happening.
speak for yourself.
What are you talking about exactly?
Leinart, the decision to bench him, and the timing of said benching.
If Whisenhunt states from the very beginning that this is an open QB competition, none of this drama is there. (well, there will be some there, but not the type and furor we are seeing now) Instead, he names Leinart the starter. He shot himself in the foot; ESPECIALLY if he had doubts about Leinart prior to this off-season. He could have given the same PC type response he is good at giving.
