This idea that we can be completely inept at running the franchise because we are going to suck is so confusing to me. They didn't know he was smoked till the start of the regular season and that's okay........because we are going to suck.

Again, nobody is mad they released McCoy. I don't care they traded a 5th for Dobbs. The problem is they didn't do it a month ago. You gave a bunch of reps in camp to a guy who wasn't going to play on your football team. That is a failure. No way to spin it.

Hindsight is 20/20.

I think it is pretty clearly a mistake. They are either starting the NFL season with a rookie who has taken limited snaps with the first team or a journeyman vet who has taken limited snaps with the first team. I don't know how that puts players into positions to be successful and compete.
Facts. Death by drowning, or death by asphyxiation. It's death either way.

Cards are still winning outright in Washington! I'm not coming off that prediction. I think they'll lose a bunch of games after that, but for week 1, this will be the game where they are the most prepared and focused, IMO....and there's a crap ton of pressure on Rivera and Bieniemy. Let's also not forget, it's not like Washington is starting a high caliber QB, with Sam Howell.
I tend to agree Ron. This is a trap game for the Commodores, OOOPS sorry Commanders if that's even possible.

I mean, Dobbs has at least played in actual regular season NFL games...So maybe they just want someone in there who won't be overwhelmed on the road.
FYI, Dobbs is 0-2 as a starter.
Blough is 0-7.
Driskel has started 10 games and actually won one!

McCoy was 11-25 as a starter.

Actually, Kingsbury probably did him a solid by letting him know how this organization is run.

I know for a fact it’s a complete crap show and have said so numerous times. Yet people don’t want to believe me.

It all starts at the top. There’s your main problem.
I’ve said it before that Bidwill is toxic and quite possibly the worst owner in the league:
Bidwill is toxic. Theres a reason why our stars want to leave or retire and it isn’t because of contract issues. We have the worst graded facilities in the league. Only team that let players pay for food. Nutrition is part of the players training and off-season routine yet they charge players for it. Knowing damn well most of their careers are short. Pitiful poverty franchise.

Hindsight is 20/20.

not when you people making Colt the stop-gap QB back in March was a terrible decision and the team should have moved on.
Didn't McCoy have off-season surgery on his throwing arm?

Didn't he deserve a chance to see whether he could return to a serviceable level of arm performance before being jettisoned?

Didn’t you watch last season? The answer to your last question is no. He wasn’t a realistic stopgap starting QB, IMO at age 38… hell, he wasn’t a realistic spot gap starting QB at 28. The fact that this FO thought he could was an embarassment in the first place, IMO.

In hindsight.
Lol… do you know what the definition of foresight is? If someone said it was a terrible decision in March to go with Colt’s old broken down body as your starter going into the season, that ain’t hindsight. That’s called foresight.

It’s truly bewildering to me afterall these years that posters here STILL don’t know what hindsight means.

If they were going to have a washed QB in camp learning a new system they might as well brought in Matt Ryan. At least would be able to mentor guys like Kyler and Tune at a superior level than Colt (no disrespect, but one was a former MVP).

If they were always serious about Dobbs then they should have just paid the money.
We have fallen this far folks. Oof.

What do you think would be the right way to handle the colt situation? When they drafted Tune, he was a 5th round project. He’s still a project, but seems to be further along then originally thought when drafted. McCoy’s arm seemed to be dead after the Chief’s game. Then going into joint practice against MN, the talk about town was how awful McCoy looked. The FO put a plan in place to get a QB that can compete with Tune for the starting job until Murray comes off the PUP. I don’t know what else they could’ve done differently. I understand not liking the Dobbs trade or some of the other moves the FO has made this off-season, but I feel that they handled this situation just fine.
Coly McCoy is a journeyman player who is 37. If the Cardinals needed to see "more" from him, they have poor self scouting. There is game film from last year. He is what he is, and his game is not going to suddenly get better.

Indecision or a lack of conviction around the QB position impacts everything. Your messaging to the team. The voice in the huddle. Timing and rhythm of the offense. All of it.

Once the draft ended and you had Tune and Blough on the roster, you cut Colt. If you really wanted Dobbs, you spend the extra 2 mil. At worst, you make Colt a camp advisor for Tune and Blough if you are worried about that.

There is no universe in which the "plan" was to bring in Josh Dobbs 10 days before the start of the season.
Man it is so hard to debate anything with you because you gloss over everything else I say and pick this one ridiculous thing to say that I already answered. Either you are being purposely obtuse or you don't understand what I said.
You judge plans based on the results - let's see how this plan ends up.
What other plans was there? Throw more good cap at bad? That's really dumb. Really dumb. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.

Anyone with a pulse KNEW this was going to be a lost year. Throwing money at a high end backup QB would have been the dumbest move from a strategic, long term view. It's exactly what Keim would have done.
Dismiss everything as minimal and claim anyone with reservations is a worry wart. Good stuff!
I call it as I see it.

I think being self aware and making decisions in a timely fashion to put your team in the best position possible is something that matters in the long run of every franchise.
Cap carries over. It appears that's what the Cardinals are looking for.

Lol… Dobbs is now a high end backup QB?
