I'm sure that JG will want to see Tune and Dobbs take turns in practice with the starters and select one to be the starter, Week One. You have someone who is more experienced and someone who knows the team. I'll be happy with either, even for different reasons.

P.S. I'm sure that JG will pick the guy who gives his team the best chance to win.

Hopefully, Tune starts, we'll probably lose but hopefully not to ourselves, Murray comes back and we see what we have before deciding anything in 2024

Maybe they'll alternate quarters? I want to see that just too see this place explode!

For all I have been accused of over-reacting to minor news, the counter response to statements of "I don't mind the move but I don't like the timing of it, and I am concerned about the timing of multiple moves this offseason" seems a little extreme.

i am just sitting here thinking:

after an entire offseason where the team knew its QB1 wouldnt be ready for week 1: the Cards are likely to start a QB in the season opener that they just acquired for a late round pick and hasn't been in camp with them until yesterday or so.

its kinda mind blowing

The Team knew and they only told you. Impressive.

IMO, you either do things the right way or you don’t. This was not done the right way IMO. No excuses to let it get this far. Colt is a know quantity as a QB.
The silver lining I see with this front office is at least they’ll admit “we blew it” and try to correct quickly rather than doubling down on a bad decision because they made it. Just hope it’s not this frequency moving forward.

You’re right. He likely wanted more to go an equally inept organization where he would’ve been a definitive backup rather than come to an equally inept organization where he would’ve started games until kyler came back. That’s definitely not speculation on your part defending a historically awful organization . . . as usual.
I don't know the answer. I have said that. I'm offering alternatives, but not treating it as fact.
Look, I’m not mad at the move. It will make us worse. But I’m looking at it from the analyzing the front office strategic moves perspective and it’s just another small wart on the back of other small warts that are starting to accumulate. Are you saying the front office is genius for waiting to trade for dobbs at a later date thereby costing themselves a draft pick and doing it so close to the season because they are trying to suck more? Are you saying that’s their strategy?
Fans thought Schneider and Pete Carroll were clownshoes too when they started out.

No I'm not suggesting they are "geniuses". I don't know why questioning speculation is so triggering to some of you.

This is probably true that it was an admission that they probably should have just signed Dobbs then.

Suck with Dobbs or suck with McCoy. I don't know why I feel compelled to argue this.

We drafted Tune for a reason. They had an idea obviously that Colt was toast and probably thought Tune was more ready than he is. Having faith in a 5th rounder is not very smart.

This is all a bit bizarre.
In any other year I would agree with you. I dont think its about the wins this season for MO & JG, its about coaching up their guys, seeing progression thruout the season and establishing a culture of discipline and hardwork. Its about next season.
There's a reason they didnt bring in top $ free agents, cut Hops, traded away three of Keims guys and cut Colt.
Anybody expecting more out of this season is fooling themselves.

So the guy who has made less than $5.5 million in his career likes living in Cleveland - CLEVELAND!! - so much that he would only come to Arizona if they paid him an extra $2 million? That is certainly a scenario. Not a plausible scenario, but a scenario.
I know people who love Cleveland. I don't understand why.

I also know people who love living in Arizona too, and I don't get that either. I have the chance to move anywhere and Arizona is a big nope from me.

I think being self aware and making decisions in a timely fashion to put your team in the best position possible is something that matters in the long run of every franchise.
Right. It’s not the outcome of this particular - or any other - move. It is the lack of foresight and overall strategy evidenced by the moves that’s building a rather disappointing resume for the front office.

Didn't McCoy have off-season surgery on his throwing arm?

Didn't he deserve a chance to see whether he could return to a serviceable level of arm performance before being jettisoned?

Yes. But a good team makes that determination much earlier than 10 days before opening game.

Another aspect of the decision was based on Murray's timetable for return. We don't know what internally they know. Maybe they reasonably believed that Murray might be ready in training camp?

It ranks up there with using hindsight to claim foresight.
Lol. I love when a poster didn’t think of something earlier like another poster and so they can’t believe that anyone else could’ve ever had the foresight themselves.

You’re right. It’s all conjecture. What we do know:

Cleveland & Arizona both crap organizations

Cleveland and Arizona both wanted dobbs

Cleveland had healthy QB. Arizona had QB coming off ACL.

Adding up the only facts we all know, seems like cards could’ve landed the kid if $$$ was equal.

You literally don't know that. It's using your or others speculation as a tactic to smack the organization down.

Dobbs could have wanted $5 million which would be reasonable to balk at.
Lol at you doing exactly what your arguing others are doing. Cmon krang.

Btw - I’m not disagreeing with those criticizing Monti this off-season. I’m also aware that there was/is truckloads of manure he has to clean out of the front office and roster since being hired. This dumpster fire was going to take an off-season to put out especially with K1 return being a question mark.

If he was healthy I think a more honest effort not to tank would’ve been implemented.
