With Alex off the board, I'd look to target Case Keenum and still be aggressive in drafting a QBOF this year.

We will need an experienced vet this year, and Case should be available for a third of what Cousins will command.

Go Cards!!!

Keenum is going to want 10-15 million a year.I say a big HELL NO to that .Sign a young caretaker QB.Draft a QBOF and build a better defense and a solid O_LINE.Don`t spend big FA money on a little better than average QB who had a career year.Use the money to find young affordable fixes and draft looking ahead.

If I were ARZ I would focus on fixing OL first. Spending $30M on Cousins would be a waste if he ends up on IR like Palmer from taking massive weekly beatings.

You build a strong OL then even a guy like Luke Falk can look good (if he has someone who can catch to throw to).

It will be interesting, to say the least, to see Smith paired with Jay Gruden. Smith > Cousins?

I wouldn't totally hate this move if it were the Jaguars because they are a QB away from contending for a Super Bowl. Washington isn't even close.
It was just disclosed that Bortles had surgery to repair a broken bone in his throwing hand/wrist. Hmmmm thinking that affected his accuracy. Looking for an improvement next season.

Blake Bortles undergoes surgery on right wrist

As we approach an intriguing offseason for the Jacksonville Jaguars, a new wrinkle has been added into the situation surrounding the franchise's starting quarterback.

Blake Bortles underwent wrist surgery last week to fix an issue he dealt with during the entire 2017 season, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per a source informed of the quarterback's situation.

The injury was in his right wrist, serving as part of his throwing hand. Bortles is expected to make a full recovery, Rapoport added.

We have an old Fitz who is not a #1 WR any more, DJ, and...no offensive line. We have AN offensive weapon, and a former one who is a decent possession receiver now.
And that single weapon is coming off injury and hasn’t played in a year.

I also believe in Chad Williams. DJohnson is better then anyone on the skins on the offensive side.
I believe in him too. He’s a real person not santa or the tooth fairy. But that doesn’t mean he can play football. He has literally showed us virtually NOTHING to earn any reliance. That’s just silly GMing. (But so is throwing HUGE money at a 29 year old non-franchise QB).

A guard and a center away from only being a decent OL means you don't have a good OL. And I would argue that, no, we're not that close on the OL.

You can 'believe' in Chad Williams all you want, but he is most certainly NOT a weapon at this point. He is hoping to be relevant and on the roster.

So, we have ONE offensive weapon, like I said. A really, really good one, to be fair, but it still makes us one-dimensional, at the moment. Sure, the draft and FA can, and I hope will, change that. But that's how matters stand at the moment.
A guard and center away [smacks head] that’s 40% of the line! Haha. And who knows what veldheer iupati or what’s his name have left?

The Cardinals have too many holes on Offense to go after an expensive player like Cousins. IMO they would be better served grabbing a cheap Veteran Journeyman QB and then making an aggressive move in the draft to snag the QBOF.

The Cardinals don't even seem to be on the radar screen when it comes to Cousins. Keep opening articles on Cousins and none of them are mentioning Arizona as a landing spot.

Since when is Cleveland a better destination than Arizona?

If Cousins wants to break the bank, the Cardinals don't want him. Top dollar for a quarterback hurts the roster at other positions.

Tom Brady is 12th out of the 16 quarterbacks being paid more than ten million a season. And he'll slide farther down the list by the start of the season. He chose greatest of all time over highest paid in your time.

What is the point? Who would you rather see at qb in a Card's uni???

Yall still want to be cellar dwellers because the Rams, Niners, and Hacks are locked at the qb position. All young qb's too.

The Cardinals were in last place last year? and the year before ? and the year before ? Strange, don't remember that.

Unless you mean, anything less than a Superbowl victory is the "cellar" then yes, you are correct.

But, still I would want to win the Superbowl, so the want part would be a stretch.

Don't you need draft capital to fill ALL the holes? Its a catch 22. Looks like 2018 is a write off year.

Cap space can be created with some adjustments and roster moves. Sign Cousins. Get a good OL player in FA. Sign a #3 WR too. Draft down and get NFL ready players. With DJ still under rookie contract and a franchise tag next year, with larry on board, a very good defense to support it, Cards can still make a run.

It is better than the alternative of signing a journey man and relying on a drafted QB with less draft picks to support him. How can Keim support new coaching staff and bring Fitz back in this scenario?

IMHO, Teddy Bridgewater.

I wouldn’t say Teddy is better, but he’s going to cost about 1/8th of what Cousins will receive, and Teddy’s contract won’t be so prohibitive that we can’t improve elsewhere. There are scenarios in which Arizona has a QB room that makes <$10 mil total in 2018.

How is Fitz not a #1 receiver anymore? His stats each year says different.

We had close to $30m in CAP space, relatively 18% of total space, go to QB's last season. At this point, with CP's retirement and that neither Stanton or Gabbert is under contract, we have relatively $19m to dedicate to the position. A little bit of creative accounting in year one and you can sign a Cousins, certainly a Bradford and both a vet backup and a draftee QBOF.

P.S. Keep in mind that Brady's contract is guaranteed $$$ and he'll be renegotiating in the not too distant.

Is he predictable, or is that predictable play-calling?

I would rather not waste another 4 years on a qb that COULD be great, while we know what we could get out of Cousins and he could be BETTER then what he is now.
I see that you're located in Viginia. Cardinal fan? Cousins fan because you follow him locally? Just wondering where you're coming from.

From my perspective, I'd like us to sign a seasond QB who's on the positive side of the line between "pretty good" and "good enough to consitently win with." I'm not sold that Cousins is on the right side of that dividing line. (Predictability can be a good thing as long as it includes "consistently winning." Otherwise it's a waste of time).

I'd prefer that we follow established BPA protocol and grab a QB if he's at the top of our board - or someone at another position if he ranks higher.

The only thing we can do is draft our QB in the first round. Unless we are going to go into the season with Drew Stanton or Blaine Gabbert as our starting QB I don't see any other option. The strategy is simple. Trade up and get our QBOTF. We are not getting Cousins for 30 million a year so why even think about it. Plus if we draft our QB we will have a ton of money to improve the rest of the team with a #2 CB, WR, OG, ect... This is rebuild time. If we do it right we have one bad year and then many winning ones.
