Personal? This is a debate with differing opinions, nothing more friend.

With Gallinari's contract off the books they get relief they would be looking for in a Paul deal. If they bring him back then they have the same roster that made the playoffs. Why should PHX aid in their rebuild giving up 2 starters and a draft pick most likely? PHX has the leverage here as OKC apparently needs to move Paul, so why should PHX give up so much?

They don't have to sign a big time FA this year, they can either save the space for next year or trade Paul to a contender, PHX isn't the only trade option for them. If we add a FA like Ibaka to solidify the PF spot and draft picks like Haliburton and say Jalen Smith and they make an impact as rookies then I think we could make the playoffs. I don't see Chris Paul as an upgrade over Rubio/Oubre/#10/Ibaka/cap space.

In a draft like this were level of talent is so close to each other in terms of grade then chances are your need will match BPA. Haliburton is easily a Top 10 guy, Tyrell Terry's stock is on rise. Any number of players could be justified being taken at #10 that could fill a need for PHX.
So far we aren’t hearing the #10 in the deal and I wouldn’t throw that in. And I don’t think they would keep Rubio. They’d trade him. Might flip oubre too.

I hope this doesn't mean anything related to trading Oubre.

Do I sound offended? It’s called a conversation—you’d think some people would know how to be civilized.

but feel free to turn this into an us vs them argument if you’d like.

yes you do sound offended

I gave up trying to interpret him a long time ago. But I think you have to be willfully ignorant at this point to not realize he is getting traded somewhere this offseason.

I wanted to repeat this tweet here as well. Trade season begins Monday afternoon.

That's Monday morning in Arizona. Things will be happening soon!

Would you settle for blindly optimistic? I have no idea what's going to happen. It appears he's on his way out but I've seen so many rumored and proposed deals disappear through the years that little would surprise me now. For all I know, he has reached an under the table agreement to sign a deal that both sides can live with. OTOH, he might have hand-picked his designation in this CP trade and found out that it's likely going to happen.

Anyway, I do think he's gone. But if it weren't for his knee injury, I'd be very much against that move. And if it turns out that we found a way to keep him here long term without impacting the playing time of Bridges (and to a lesser extent Cameron), I'd still love to see that happen.

I think it's been too quiet to be otherwise.

We may know as early as tomorrow morning unless there are leaks today.

I don't think we are going to hear anything official till the weekend after we have signed our major free agent - which I am 90% will be Gallo if the Chris Paul deal is happening.

I hear you. I think I would rather keep him too. Truth is though we can only afford to pay 1 of him and Mikal because neither can play Power forward and both want to be starters.

I just wish we were trading him for a young asset that could contribute as long as he could if we kept him.

I'm guessing we will start hearing about things as soon as tomorrow even if it's not official.

It could be crazy fun!

What does signing CP do to us for the next 2 years in free agency when there actual good free agents.
Will we still be able to go after someone or will we be kicking ourselves for signing CP?
In asking because I have no clue how it works.

This is more like Nash to the Lakers than Nash to the Suns. Think about that a minute.

don’t forget when we got Nash we also had by far the best training staff in the NBA.

now don’t know if we even have one

I could see this. If it weren’t for his knee injury he wouldn’t be semi-damaged goods and he would’ve had a chance to further cement his play on the team. Seems crazy to think of it, but he’s only played 96 games a Phoenix sun.

I’m sorry but Chris Paul today is much more effective than Steve Nash when he was traded to the Lakers.
That is true. I said "more like than" not "exactly the same as." I stand by that evaluation. Call me skeptical on the wisdom of this trade.

Chemistry is a delicate thing, and this team seems to have hit it pretty well in that 8-0 bubble run. Maybe it is a fluke, but I sure would like to give it more time to see. One thing we all have to admit is that Chris Paul would be a huge game-changer chemistry-wise. Our difference of opinion would be whether it is better or not. I am not confident it would be worse, I am just concerned it might be and any benefit would only for a very short window.

It's like a roller coaster. You might as well strap yourself in and enjoy the ride!

I don't know if I've mentioned it but I'm actually against this trade. That said, even though I think the odds are slightly against us, there's a fair chance it will work for us so I'm not going to sweat it either way. If it happens, it will be interesting to see if Paul's in your face style of leadership works with these guys. He has a reputation of rubbing several teammates the wrong way but he also has a reputation of being a strong leader.

Never heard of the guy, but he claims it is done.... lots of grains of salt on this one.

I've tried to see both sides but I voted no on the trade as well.

IMO, the Suns are giving up two more than serviceable players in the proposed Paul trade in Rubio and Oubre. It would have nice to see the Suns sign a starting power forward in free agency, add to the team through the draft and tweaked the roster.

I will support the Suns in whatever they do but their decisions are frequently not those I would make.

I’ve seen from two different places that the Suns are balking at including Cam and that seems to be the current standoff.
