Looked to me like they took half a second off too much after Haywoods layup.

Of course they won't review that.

agreed. but I think Pop would easily give up Parker's offense for George's defense and Bosh's everything. Dude won a title with Avery Johnson at pg then a motley crew combo of a 19 year old rookie Parker and Speedy Claxton. If he could put Bosh together with Duncan and Manu, that team could still be a serious contender for another 4 years.

I don't know. I've heard rumblings of this going down in the off-season on the radio a couple times out here in LA.

so was David Robinson when they won their last title.

They're also getting Splitter next season who's supposed to be another impact euro.

Just saying, this team has a big piece they can move to stay in the race.

Actually chances are they will never get Splitter over.

And Bosh is about as soft as Channing Frye and a playoff choker with the best of them.

I couldn't care less if they got Bosh to replace Duncan basically. It would keep them above the water for longer but they wouldn't be a contender and Bosh isn't a Spurs type player.

Plus they harmstrung themselves with Ginobili's contract. That guy doesn't have enough left in the tank for a full season at a high level.

Wow, I was suprised to see Dallas have no sense of ugency to get a shot up in the final minute. Brain fart on the Mavericks part.

I think Bosh gets overrated at times but he's a much better player than you're giving him credit for. Maybe he's not good enough to carry a franchise by himself but he's certainly a piece you can build around.

It's lookin like the spurs. Be careful what you wish for

You would rather play the Mavs? I don't Dirk is much harder to guard and they are a much bigger team.

We didn't do too well against them in the regular season either.

At the same time Duncan looks way past his prime especially defensively. We owned them in the regular season winning twice by double digits and the only loss coming on JRichs blown dunk.

Plus Amare has averaged 33/11+ against the Spurs in the regular season. Duncan can't guard him at all anymore. At the same time Robin Lopez can do a good enough job on Duncan by himself.

Let's try to get past Portland first. They've still won 4 out 7 games against the Suns this season.

Slin, you're on a different planet if you think Ginobli is any worse than Ainge or Raja. Is he an annoying player? Yes, but he doesn't go out to injure people.

Yup. I can't stand Ginoboli. He's one of the players most in need of a good bitch-slap but he's not dirty. He's a blatant flopper but that's about it.

this sounds a lot like 2008, where we "owned them" after we got Shaq and Duncan was old and Amare can, yada, yada, yada.

we have to get there first but if we do... REALLY? THE SPURS AGAIN?!

Don't act so surprised. You knew as well as I did that as soon as it was clear that they were in our half of the west bracket that they were bound to meet up. Call it fate, call it destiny, call it whatever you want. Just don't call it a surprise.

I actually did favor meeting the spurs rather than the mavs. However, it's still a scary proposition, especially with the way they're playing Dallas at the moment.

Well, its not over yet. It is still possible for them to come back, Remember Lakers - Suns? :) and i think Carlisle did coached a team that came back after being down 3-1. They probably need to resolve locker room bitching like Marion's complaint of Carlisle before they can pull off such a win..

Although facing the Spurs makes my belly churn, i will take the Suns vs Spurs than facing the Mavericks. Suns need to cross the Portland bridge first before worrying about that.

Boy, I have to tell you, I just saw some Spurs-Mavericks highlights, and they were terrifying. There were multiple blatant mug jobs that went uncalled on every play. I couldn't tell whether one team or the other was getting the advantage, but I kept thinking, "Surely they had to call that," and yet the play would go on.

I don't see how the Suns can compete in a series against either of them if that's what they're allowing. And it's only the first round. Wow.

Just think if OKC can knock out the Lakers and the Spurs take the Mavs, both the first and second seed in the West would be eliminated in the first round - that has to be an historic moment.

One has to think the Lakers will come roaring back but I watched the second half of the last game and the Okies didn't slack off a bit when they had the Lakers down - by the early fourth Q, Jackson threw in the towel. They've played the Lakers tough every bit of every game since the first Q of the first game, so you have to think they have a realistic chance of taking the series at this point. The momentum is very much in their favor - the point differentials from their side have been: -8, -3, +6, +21.

Even more historic would be all four top seeds losing in the first round - none of the four of us hold an advantage as of today - Utah being up 3-1 on the Nugs. Ugh, the Suns have enough historic moments of this kind...

^^ It crossed my mind too that all 4 top seeds may just lose to the lower seeded teams. it really goes to show that there is no clear cut favorite in the West and it can go either-way.

Gosh the Spurs have just managed an epic choke job against a pathetic Mavs team with Dirk 4 fouls in the first half and Dallas was back from being down 20+ in the 3rd just now.

What happens?

Eddie Rush calls the phantom and one for Tim Duncan. Surprise.

Eddie Rush is in bed with the Spurs more then Tim Donaghy was in bed with organized crime.

Eddie Rush was the one making all the terrible calls in that horrendous game vs the spurs where Donaghy was reffing.

I don't know if it is possible, but I hope Rush doesn't ref a single game of this series. He doesn't belong anywhere near this series. He cost us before he could cost us again in a 7 game series by losing us one game.

I was calling for beaubois to play all series long. He is the only mavs guard who can live at the rim against the spurs like devin harris did. yet it came way too late and he got sprayed with a firehose by his own coach.

Carlisle did a terrible job in this series, if his rotations and just flat out better use of certain players was better I think the mavs could have bagged it in 6 instead.

Shawn Marion shouldn't have even got 24 minutes IMO. He is terrible vs the Spurs.

Dirk shouldn't get a pass here. Another mental choke job from Nowitzki. Those stupid reach fouls on the flopping George Hill put Nowitzki on the bench where the only useful part of his game, offense, languished. I'm so glad I don't have to root for that guy.

I don't root for the guy but if anyone on that team deserves a pass it's Dirk. Nobody ever puts him in the Kobe and Lebron class and yet he's expected to carry the team in the same manner. For the most part, he does just that and the Mavs win this series if a few of the other key players came anywhere near their normal level.

It's easy to find a few flaws in anyone's performance but unless you're really expecting perfection from a human being you might want to cut this guy a little slack. Webber won't cut him any slack because misery loves company and Chris has to live with his own "playoff choker" reputation.

There's a difference between carrying a team and simply making the right basketball decisions. Making stupid, grade-school mistakes and missing point blank, uncontested shots in crunch time is on him, and consistently so.

Who else is in the class with Kobe and LeBron? Nobody? Okay, then. Every year I hear "Nowitzki should be considered for MVP". I think it's pretty well recognized, or at least debated that Nowitzki is a top ten player. In that way, you'd expect him to come through wouldn't you?
