Arizona RB hurt in rollover

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Arizona Cardinals running back Damien Anderson was injured early Saturday in a rollover accident while driving off a freeway, the team and police said.

The two-year veteran was hospitalized after surgery at Phoenix's Maricopa County Medical Center, state Department of Public Safety spokesman Frank Valenzuela said.

Cardinals vice president Michael Bidwill said Anderson was in serious condition.

According to Valenzuela, Anderson had his brothers Billy and Dedric aboard when he steered his Ford Expedition toward an Interstate 10 off-ramp in Chandler about 2:30 a.m. He lost control, and the vehicle rolled down an embankment and came to rest on its roof.

Damien and Billy Anderson were thrown from the vehicle. Dedric Anderson remained inside, but all three men were injured.

Valenzuela said Billy and Dedric had surgery for leg injuries at a nearby hospital.

Damien Anderson, 24, was Arizona's backup running back until the Cardinals signed Emmitt Smith last March.

Relegated to third-string, Anderson finished fifth on the team in rushing, gaining 68 yards in 18 carries

Hopefully all the anderson's will be all-right and this won't affect us next year...Regardless of that, our prayers should be with them.

Get well soon Damien!

Wow. I can not imagine the greif of having all three boys in such a severe accident.

It brought back some painful Earnest Dye memories.

Best wishes to the Anderson family for a full and rapid recovery.

My prayers will be with him, his brothers and his family. Speedy recovery, D.A. Man, those Fords suck for rollovers.

So I am assuming the two who were ejected from the SUV did not have seatbelts?
