I swear there are some posters on here that would have been happier if the Cards would have lost to Green Bay in the playoffs instead of having to watch Karlos Dansby running into the end zone with the game winner.

The Cardinals had a big halftime lead and the defense lead by the great Dansby allowed the Packers back in that game. Dansby is the past. He went to go get his shrine built in Cleveland. Personally I rather have players who want to win the Cardinals their first Lombardi Throphy on this team. If people want to think Dansby was great, then that is fine. Just not this Cardinals fan.

Dansby is a good to great player who has less loyalty than your average NFL player. It's all about his career, and about his money.

If he's on my team, I'm happy to have him. But I have no personal loyalty to any player of Dansby's ilk. IMO he has no chance at any type of legacy, other than always seeking the biggest payday possible.

I see no reason to obsess about him any further, he's gone and he won't be back.

Dansby was, is and will always be a mercenary for hire. His loyalty will be to whomever is paying him at the time. No more, no less. His loyalty belongs to the highest bidder. Why he thinks he should be in the ring of honor or have a statue built in honor of him is beyond my understanding when he conducts business the way he does. The two thoughts don't go together. Statues and such are built to honor long commitment by someone to something or to a hero for doing something extraordinary, not to someone who is basically a gun for hire.

He played well during his time here. He got paid for it. To me that is the end of the story.

I challenge you to justify this with any single example of a Franchise-type player (which Dansby was--twice) who exercised "average loyalty" for an NFL player.

The closest thing that I can think of is maybe, maybe Tom Brady, who last year accepted what was believed to be a less-than-average deal on a contract extension for a deal that he still got new money, or money more quickly, under.

As for AZF, his assertion that Dansby was the highest paid ILB in the league was true for about five weeks. The same offseason when Dansby was signed by Miami, San Francisco extended the contract of Patrick Willis and made him the league's highest-paid linebacker.

I think the vast majority of us who visit/post here would be the same way Dansby and most professional athletes are. Show me the money!

When the team you have just played for falls a lot shorter than another with an offer, you go for the money. Hard for us to relate, most of us won't be determining how many millions is "enough" or "too much". Personally, I don't think I could ever have "too much" when it comes to money.

Anyway, Karlos is a great player, he was here, he was in Miami and he will be in Cleveland. Stack up his numbers with some who are in the HOF and he's right there. Maybe a bit narcissistic, but one would have to be a little that way to rise to that level of excellence.

Good luck Los and thanks for what you did while here.

If thats directed at me you have it all wrong.

#1 thing for me first off is TEAM SUCCESS. If we have a bunch of terrorists and serial killers taking us to Super Bowls, i may not buy any of their jerseys but I wont complain either.

#2 Comes player love. Ideally you have a guy like Russell Wilson who is adored in Seattle and they win.

I LOVE Fitz, I love PP, I love HB. I love Dockett. I love CC.

Those guys on different occasions have sacrificed - whether it be numbers, money, etc for the team. PP/HB still have to prove it but the way they go about their business makes them fan favorites to me.

When those guy come up for money? PAY THEM. I was all for paying Fitz 3 years ago because what he means to the team, outside of production. And lo and behold whenthey came to defer/restrucutre he was only too happy to do it, even flying back after the Super Bowl. Dockett played 3-4 DE for 2 years never saying anything during that time because was for betterment of team. Campbell is a warrior. PP is a true professional. PAY THOSE GUYS.

Dansby I was only too happy to let walk not once but twice. I didnt think he was worth 22 million guranteed at the time and didnt think he was worth 14 million now. And much of it didnt have to do with production. It was who I percieve him to be.

Lets just say I wont be buying his jersey anytime soon. Im glad hes in Cleveland. Cleveland sucks.

Fair enough. I dont think anyone had to make the case for Patrick Willis as the highest paid ILB in 2010. And Dansby could have been the 5th highest paid ILB in 201 and he wouldnt have been worth it IMO.

Doplhins were desperate and got no ROI on him. Thats why he got cut.

that article and bump is the last you'll hear from me on the subject. I think Dansby's loss will hurt the D, but I (and pretty much everyone else here) agreed with the FO's decision not to spend that kind of coin on him.

I just remembered 1616's (amongst others, Nashman and Finest) takedown of Dansby as nothing but a mercenary, not a leader, and for some odd reason, that post about how "did i think Dansby ever took Minter" under his wing stuck in my head, so when I read an article that specifically talked about Dansby's effect on Minter and Minter calling him to thank him for what he learned from Dansby, I bumped the sucker.
