No one thinks Dockett gets his respect? And the rest of the defense cant deliver? Ok then.. Everyone looking for big plays.. 31 of the 32 teams would take Dockett..

at 9 million dollars per year? I'd be surprised.

The Texans are paying Antonio Smith $9 million this year. It will be interesting to see how that plays out.

Calais is an 11.5 million cap hit next year with Dockett at $8.75. Dockett will be 33 but who are they going to replace him with? Ron Talley? Especially with $6 million in dead money if they release him. I'm not down with dropping production to Ron Talley level to save a couple of million against the cap.

Now if they were going to sign Henry Melton that would be different. :D

Yeah, the minute that the Cards drop 90 and we start getting gashed the inevitable "Same Old Cards" will rear it's ugly head. Cheap Bidwills.

Let's see, you guys didn't like Horton or Adrian Wilson, or O'Brien Schofield, or Sam Acho or Dan Williams or Darnell Dockett or Clark Haggans or Paris Lenon ..... but the Cards defense was better 2011-2012 than at any similar stretch since 1975-'76. It's the first time since then that the D has ranked out of the 20's in both points allowed and yards allowed in back to back seasons.

You don't make the pro bowl 3 times playing in Arizona if you aren't getting any work done. Pittsburgh, Dallas, Green Bay maybe. But not Arizona.

Go DD Gee and I have your back.

And again, you drag up his glory years, which has zero to with what his value currently is.

If he takes about a 2/3 pay cut... I will quit griping about his mouth moving better than his feet. deal?

And when Dockett was in his earlier years (better years?) he was getting paid about 1/3 of what he is now.. So I think it evens itself out..

What? When we drop players they instantly turn into crap 90% of the time according to this board.

The ASFN jinx/reverse jinx continues. A guys gets bashed in a thread and the next game he has 3 sacks. While another guy is lauded in a thread and the next game he has 1 catch for 6 yards.

I'll give him his due. Good game.

But I expect that he SHOULD have games like this against an UDFA in his first start.

That's also how you tell if a player has real skills. If he just beats up on guys like what NO had to block him. DWash playing against the 2nd team offenses in pre season just looked light years better than the rest of the players on the field for instance.

Seems to happen more than not. Fickle. Ride the guys who've proven it for years here. DD has earned his dough. So has Fitz. Don't hear much if he's worth it? Let's have a few life timers on board. Ride out the tough times to get to better. They've proven themselves over and over again.

He played like he was on steroids today. Pretty happy to see DD back. Hope it lasts more then just one game.

This.

I don't recall bashing DD myself and it's a shame when he has a GREAT game the Cards can't be more competitive.

for the dockett is not a leader comments

“We are better than that,” Dockett said. “The Saints are a good team, but they’re not that good.
“I told my team today, ‘The only bad thing about today is we can’t go 15-1,’ A lot of football left. No one should feel sorry for themselves. Sometimes it takes a good loss like this to re-evaluate yourself.”

Sadly that has only worked once in the 25 years the Cards have been in Arizona.

And man did it work. They put on the Big Boy Pads and put on a show for us in the NFC Title game. An event unequaled in my sports life. And that life includes my alma mater winning 3 National Championships and the baseball Cardinals winning 5 World Series including that unbelievable game vs the Rangers.

Happiest I've ever been after a sporting event in my life. What a weekend that was.

One benefit you get from being a long time Cardinal football fan is the amount of respect you get from your friends and family and even opposing teams fans for being LOYAL to the team over years and years of losing seasons.

I can't begin to count how many text messages and emails I received from people telling me how happy they were for me after that NFC Title game. Even from old friends I hadn't seen in years.
