People just think Dweed will automatically take a paycut & restructure his deal, when he doesn't even have too. Hell, he might not even want to play in Zona! He could easily force his way out & onto another team is he refuses a restructure...and that's if Michael Bidwill even wants him on his team.

I don't think that at all, but the Cardinals have all the leverage here. Its not like Washington has much to offer a team, just a bunch of questions about his play, and a bunch of actions over the last 5 years that has cost his team and organization untold amounts of opportunities.

Let's pump the breaks thinking this guy is going to break the bank anywhere. Right now he is in the same group of players as Michael Floyd, and how is his offseason going ?

Willis and Bowman were surrounded by all pro players.

Calias Campbell, Karlos Dansby, Darnell Dockett, Patrick Peterson, Adrian Wilson......shall I go on ?

Neither had Dwash's game changing speed. Best acceleration for a LB in NFL history.

You obviously never saw Lawrence Taylor in his prime, Ray Lewis in his prime, Brian Urlacher in his prime, and of course, the actual linebacker that was the fastest Derrick Brooks in his prime.

In history ? No, sorry that is not the case. Washington is/was damn fast, but let's calm the hyperbole down.

Plus we will see what the man has left in the tank sooner rather than later........that is of course if he can stay clean long enough to even see a football field.

Washington had amazing instincts. How many times did we see him blow up qbs and and RBS in the backfield on keepers and screens. You can't be an all pro lb in the NFL on speed alone.

His pdef and int are actually better than Willis and Bowman from a season by season stand point. That in itself is amazing because of much pass rushing he actually did. What a god.

This article explains it all how smart a player he was with actual play analysis.

My god what an amazing first step

Are you ToolManTebow? This fawning over D-Wash is kind of creepy.

He is going to get a minimum contract no matter where he goes so he can do that here in good faith to the team he screwed or he can to it elsewhere.

We'll find out next week. If ARZ insists he takes a pay cut and he doesn't then he's gone or they wait until after OTA's and minicamp to see if he is still worth the contract.

The pettiness is still strong

The draft thing is moot anyways. Reuben Foster probably wont be available, and Reddick is overrhyped.

DWash is our best option at ILB.

DWash might be a backup/special teams option at ILB.

Fixed that for you.

We have NO IDEA if he'll be on the roster, if he'll even be ready to BE on the roster, if he can contribute on D, if he can play special teams while doing that, etc. We don't even know if he has that support system set up yet--that MANDATED support system that his CONDITIONAL reinstatement is based upon. The facts are, we don't know the facts yet.

He is a non-factor heading into the draft. If he can contribute again, great! We'll be able to shuffle and find a roster spot for him if he can. If not, who cares? We didn't have him a few days ago, so it'll just be the status quo.

He has been the best option since we drafted him but unfortunately is not reliable. We'll plan to not have him and if he shows his worth, keep him but you do not build a team around a guy who has failed to see the field the majority of his career.

He's not going to take a minimum contract that's silliness.

Who is going to pay him big money at this point?

LOL Right, if anybody doesn't agree with Bodha, they're just being petty. You're a legend in your own mind, kid.

I dont care if you dont agree with me. Just dont try to disguise your butthurt temper tantrum as being sound logic.

"But he doesnt play special teams! Hes gonna be a backup!"

Did he play special teams 3 years ago? Was he a backup? No, he was a superstar. Nothing changes. He will be starter and the backups behind him can play special teams.

duh

I agree with some of your D-Wash takes, but dude, chill out on the personal attacks towards others. I'm cool with others' trepidation on the matter (Washington hasnt exactly earned the benefit of the doubt at this moment). Let the process play itself out.

Thats hilarious. Yeah, im making assumptions. Coming from the folks saying that DWash is out of shape, has forgotten how to play football, and will 100% burn us again.

Your definition of superstar is pretty broad. He wasn't even the best ILB in his division. He might not have ever been the SECOND-BEST ILB in his own division.

Yes, he played special teams three years ago.

One second-team All-NFL selection =/= Superstar. One Pro Bowl Alternate =/= superstar.

Jeez the pettiness is just on another level. Now youre arguing the definition of a superstar.

Fine. Ill let you have this one. DWash was not a "superstar"

He was just "really, really, really good". Which ill take all day, every day.

I dont think anyone has said he is out of shape or forgotten how to play football, you are just magnifying comments and turning them into what you want them to have been instead of what they really were.

Being out of football shape is not being out of shape.

Being less instinctive and less ramped up as everyone isnt forgot how to play football.

But I guess if you dont create hyperbole and exaggeration, your lopsided viewpoint loses its traction.

I think it is. Aaron Rogers is as cocky as they come, and has his moments off the field, yet is treated much better than Newton if you ask me.
Aaron Rogers didn't come into the league as a theif and then pout his way through every loss. also, what moments are you talking about with Rogers lol? I have nothing against Cam but when you act like a baby, you're gonna get treated like one. The end.

FYI, no player on our team is in football shape. Thats what OTAs, camp, and preseason are for.

Less instinctive?....you dont lose instincts. They are instincts. Its something that cant be taught. You have it or dont. He has it. That doesnt go away.

Less ramped up? You think the guy whos been out of football and is finally back is going to be less ramped up?......If there was anybody would be possibly more ramped up than Dwash, Id like to hear who.

sorry... when Washington was good, he very, very good. But he NEVER played at the level of Willis or Bowman. Those guys could literally do everything on the field at the highest level.

I found this old ranking of the top 60 ILBs that was published before the 2014 season.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2016694-br-nfl-1000-top-60-inside-linebackers

Here is what they said for DWaste right before he was suspended for a year that turned out to be 3 years:

15. Daryl Washington, Arizona Cardinals

Run Defense

18/30
After coming in as our No. 3 inside linebacker two seasons ago, Daryl Washington (6’2”, 238 pounds, four seasons) drops all the way to No. 15 this time around. Washington’s down year had much to do with his struggles against the run. Struggling with angles and pursuit, Washington didn’t display the same ability to maneuver through traffic to make plays against the run.

Pass Rush
4/10
Washington also didn’t make the same impact in rushing the passer as he had in the past. He struggled to disengage blockers and still doesn’t possess the skill set to beat them once engaged—either against the run or when rushing the passer.

Coverage
18/20
One thing Washington didn’t lose this past season was his ability make plays in space while in coverage. He reads passes in front of him extremely well and is reliable when put in space against an offensive player with the ball in his hands. He breaks well on the ball and recognizes routes coming across the middle.

Tackle
33/40
While he has the speed and athleticism to be near the ball on every play, Washington can put himself in bad positions to make tackles by overpursuing the play and not playing inside-out when attacking a running back to the outside.

Overall
73/100
Washington will need a bounce-back year in 2014, especially after the Cardinals just gave him a $10 million option bonus as part of the deal he signed in 2012. The Cardinals obviously believe in him, and it’ll be up to him to prove them right.

Ironically Karlos Dansby was ranked #9 overall.

15th out of 60 puts your in the top 25%

You have a top 25% guy at every position and you win a ton of games. Thats the elite of the elite.
