Explain what youre afraid of. You worried he burns us again? Its all good. He gets booted and Dansby+Bucc are starters. If he stays clean, then itll be DWash + Bucc/Dansby.

Your whole focus is "that guy hurt my feelings, therefore he's not a good football player anymore".

Theres no actual risk. Its a smart football move to bring him back.

I'm not talking about bringing him back... I'm talking about changing the draft and the future of the team because of him when he's proven repeatedly for FIVE YEARS that he can't be depended on.

Jesus... this really isn't that hard to understand.

simple. DWash was instructed by the league to say nothing... hell he wasn't even allowed to talk to team management before reinstatement

Oh WOW!! he lied to Mike jurecki!!.... big fuzzy deal,...who the hell is mj anyway?

I think you are misusing cognitive dissonance... which part of the situation do you feel is being altered and to avoid what mental discomfort?

do I really need to explain this to you? the idea that he's still in great shape and can be an All-Pro dynamic force is what's been altered from the reality that he hasn't gotten in football shape in 3 YEARS and he was first and foremost an athletic FREAK and he's now THREE YEARS OLDER ON THE WRONG SIDE OF 30... and that's been altered to avoid the mental discomfort that A LOT of people here LOVED him and have been pining for him to come back and don't want to admit what we're looking at is probably NOT the same guy.

.... there is one solid fact that remains true..

You're right... it's that he didn't do what was needed in Goodell's opinion to lift his suspension. In other words, he failed to do what he needed to do to get back in the league.

we do NOT know why it took three years for DW to get reinstated...to state otherwise is purely falsehood...in which case... YOU are lying to all the fans on asfn....unless of course you have some inside information to share?? Does your niece babysit for DW's kids? Brother in law does his mother in laws lawn?... if you have information, spit it out...otherwise accept the undeniable FACT that we do not know all the facts in the situation.....it was painfully obvious the past few years that a gag order was issued to all parties involved

All the information is right in front of your face. The fact that you can't see it is again... cognitive dissonance.

I agree with you.. Cant change anything based off of this. I say bring him in and if he is stilla dynamic player great for us. but continue to draft as though he isn't available or wont pan out. To do anything else would plain dumb.

The main positive I can say about this is that it's given me something else to obsess over instead of whether or not we might possibly pick Mahomes or Watson tomorrow. A needed breather on my end, haha.
I am stuck in a class ALL day. Gonna miss the draft for the first time in a while! I'm dying. LOL! :madarms:

I missed night one of the draft ONCE since I've started watching, thanks to a job that wouldn't let me use vacation time for it. Quit the job because of their inflexibility around football. Gotta have your priorities.

There's a risk that you change your draft philosophy and pass on a prospect because you expect to have Washington and he fails you again. I don't think this is a risk, but dopes here are saying the cards should do so.

There's a risk that you waste reps in training camp on a Washington, h fails you again, and the players grind him don't develop as quickly. Reps are important and valuable.

There's a risk you release an ILB at the end of the preseason to keep Washington, who fails you. Now you get to spend money elsewhere.

Wrong. Roster spots are incredibly valuable. LBs need to play special teams. Who is that going to be? Dansby? Buc? Dweed? No. It also might stop us from drafting a long term answer at the position. So you're wrong

sorry... when Washington was good, he very, very good. But he NEVER played at the level of Willis or Bowman. Those guys could literally do everything on the field at the highest level.

Willis and Bowman were surrounded by all pro players.

Neither had Dwash's game changing speed. Best acceleration for a LB in NFL history.

Why can't Washington play special teams? He did when he was with us the last time?

Welcome to the board, Darryls new agent. I'll have a Hypnotiq and Hennessy. Please keep posting that YouTube video. No one is going to notice it's five years old.

Here are two other things on Washington:

1) People who are complimenting Daryl's instincts are misremembering his game. He had great sideline to sideline speed, but he wasn't good at reading defenses or making plays outside the structure of the defense. It's one reason he never wore the green dot. He could fire the gun up the A gap as well as anyone, but he never had a great feel like Mathieu or even Tony Jefferson had. It's one reason that he doesn't have a ton of passes defensed or interceptions. If he's lost half a step, he doesn't have room for error.

2) Washington cannot stay at his current salary. If he wants to play for the veteran minimum with $150k active roster bonuses for each game, that's a start. The upside of keeping him is that you don't have to pay Bucannon on an extension.

People just think Dweed will automatically take a paycut & restructure his deal, when he doesn't even have too. Hell, he might not even want to play in Zona! He could easily force his way out & onto another team is he refuses a restructure...and that's if Michael Bidwill even wants him on his team.

Washington may not have much of a choice... if the Cards cut him then what kind of a contract can he get on the open market? Everyone has already pointed out all of the negative reasons not to trust him again... so what team is going to sign him to a big contract? I would think that the best he's going to get is a 1 year, incentive laden, prove-it deal & that might as well be with the Cards if they determine he can still play at a high level (& want to give him another chance).

I'm torn on the whole situation, I'll live with whatever BASK decides to do.

Washington had amazing instincts. How many times did we see him blow up qbs and and RBS in the backfield on keepers and screens. You can't be an all pro lb in the NFL on speed alone.

His pdef and int are actually better than Willis and Bowman from a season by season stand point. That in itself is amazing because of much pass rushing he actually did. What a god.

This article explains it all how smart a player he was with actual play analysis.

Per Sportrac.com, our cap space is 6.6 mil after rookie pool. D. Washington represents 5.67 mil - 2.9 mil salary, 2.5 some sort of bonus, and .27 workout bonus. The 2.5 bonus is dead cap. So he only cost us 3.17 mil this year or save. I say pay it, that's cheap for a pro bowler.

On top of that, he's committed to us for 3.4 mil in 2018, and 4.4 mil in 2019. The Cards are not committed to any bonuses during those two years.

Lets not forget DWash wasn't just speed. Dude wasn't the biggest but he had 34 1/2 inch arms which are huge advantage for shedding blockers and tackling runners and not to mention elite speed

he also ran into that bit of trouble at a time when the commish was trying to assert his authority over discipline....IIRC the pats had just pissed in goodells kool aid,...again...

I am less concerned about his physical being...I was once an athlete...and at 6'2" and 320 lbs I could still dunk a basketball at 30 even after I broke my back...and I never played in the nfl...pretty sure he will be fast enough to play...if he is lacking in conditioning that will not likely show up until December or so...and can be mitigated by adjusting playing time and (legal) dietary supplements..........I aint making any excuses for the guy...pretty sure I have been on the screw dwash train from the beginning of this mess... but the money is spent,...may as well see if we can get some return off of it.

Black athletes are being more critically looked at compared to white athletes, is there any question about that? Particularly those who fit black stereotypes that the general public has. Cam Newton would be one example of that, imagine if Newton messes up what the reaction would be. I mean that is a phenomenon that is not exclusive to athletes, that is a problem in society in general.
I am not following too closely but I have read a lot of dubious stuff about Gronkowski yet he seems to be a darling in the eye of many.

If you present yourself publically as the "nice guy" or "mainstream sophisticatedguy", you are more likely to get a pass when you mess up, see Fitz.

My general opinion is that teams should focus only on the sport and let authorities handle everything else. Washington is free and able to play and under contract? Sure, see what he has in the tank.

I would think/hope that cam is treated that way because he's the QB and the face of the franchise. I would hope that people reaction to Cam's antics are just that and not because of the color of his skin.

Oh. look, he wasn't there in 2015 in the NFC Championship game when that QB waxed our team because he was an irresponsible piece of trash.

Highlights from almost 4 years ago don't impress me and elite speed, regardless of wear and tear goes away with age. If it didn't then why don't we see players that were perennial backups explode into the league at age 30+ ?

I think it is. Aaron Rogers is as cocky as they come, and has his moments off the field, yet is treated much better than Newton if you ask me.
