IMO passed out drunk at a red light is much worse than failing drug tests, I wouldnt really compare the two. JMO though.

But there was also the Domestic Violence arrest.

Yeah, right after signing a new contract and what, a $10mil signing bonus?

Floyd was cut because he showed no remorse for what he did.

Vick came back after several years and was still effective. If dansby is still effective I wouldn't completely write him off.

I say take him to training camp and evaluate from there
I forgot about Vick, good call. Dansby hasnt been out of the NFL.

True, even though that incident was weird. I seem to remember she was throwing plants at him and jumping on him and he pushed her off and she got injured?

Have any players returned from a 1 year suspension and been elite still? Or even two years let alone 3? I cant imagine this will go anywhere but I am infinitely curious.

I don't have the numbers to back it up, but didn't Ricky Williams come back from his "weed" vacation and do pretty well for the Dolphins, until injuries and age caught up with him? You can even argue being a RB would require even better conditioning than your average LB...

And for the record, my understanding is the $2.5 million cap hit happens either way. So cutting him really does nothing, but keeping him requires a $4.5 million cap hit. You cut him for that alone or get him to redo his deal.

It was a bummer and hurt the team for sure, I just don't see them eye to eye at all.

Another good call! Ricky left for 1-2 years and then lit it up when he came back.

Thatd be hilarious if we cut DWash, draft Foster, and Foster gets busted for drugs.

Yeah, that has been argued to death about fault and there was a lot of fault all around IMHO, but he was arrested so he is still facing another suspension.

Still plead guilty, so unless he somehow served his DV suspension concurrent to the substance abuse (unlikely), he's gonna get 2-6 games.

Presumably, at this point they could be counting the 3 years off as having that involved too.

He actually missed 2004 as retired, came back in 2005 and was suspended for 2006 (played in the CFL that year) and 2007. Then had a crappy 2008 and decent 2009 before starting to go down hill. So he actually only missed 2004 and 2007.

But he's still under contract 4 more years.
Yes, and the last 3 years would only have a base salary cap hit, no signing bonus hit. That means you could but him at any point after this year with no cap hit.

Bingo! They're unlikely to reinstate and then suspend him again. This is his LAST chance and hopefully with the Cards. And then we can stop this stupid experiment of playing a SS at ILB.

So given that our official AZ cardinals twitter account tweeted about this news, does it indicate that we may take a "flier" on the guy?

Straight from the Cardinals website.

“Considering we have been prohibited from having any contact with him over the last three years, it would be premature today to discuss a potential return to the team.

“As everyone is aware, the 2017 NFL Draft is just days away and that is where our energy and attention is fully focused right now.

“At the appropriate time, we will address the issue of Daryl Washington further.”

Washington also had pled guilty to an aggravated assault charge for which he could still be punished by the NFL.

Washington has not played in a game since December of 2013. He was suspended in May of 2014. His contract “tolled” at the time he was suspended, meaning that he remains under contract with the Cardinals with the four seasons it had remaining at the time.

Its not a celebratory post. Its just an announcement. Of course they have to announce it. For all we know there will be a "DWash has been released" announcement.

Got it. The bonus hit was the last three years. Looks as if he'll still be a Cardinal this season if that's the case.

I wouldnt look into it. Just giving a sweeping answer to everyone's question about D-Wash's future with the team.
