I agree about the Dodgers, but our flaws aren't critical. We still have one of the best SP rotations in the league and have great hitters in the lineup.

I still think this is a special team playing well in the wrong year. Get the wildcard and ruin someone's season.

Don't be duped... our holes are critical... Our offense kept it together for much of the first half, but is now coming back to its' realistic ability... our defense is sub-par and on the left side of the field (SS, 3B and LF), its worse than sub-par. Our starters are plenty good enough, even though Corbin is barely hanging on... but our closing situation is a serious problem. Rodney is not nearly reliable enough and Archie has not been asked to prove himself as a closer.
So, good enough to contend for a wild card? Maybe... but nowhere near good enough to threaten LA...

Maybe this meltdown will convince the brass to be buyers for a legit closer.

Wow, that was almost impressively bad

I agree that was worse than the average loss in a baseball season. The Dodgers are now totally in the heads of the DBacks when they meet again.

Rodney had a nice run but Bradley has consistently improved and become pretty dominant.

They need to switch rolls.

Just make Archie the closer already. Not sure why they keep a cap on him.

Because Rodney was arguably the best closer in the MLB in May and June.

I'll admit, last night has me worried about Rodney as a closer, but I think it's premature to make an official move. Going from set up man to closer is not as seamless as it seems, particularly since Archie has been killing it as a set up man and long reliever.

Ain't gonna be a Wild Card game.

Nothing is surely in the bag yet, but the collapse would need to be really monumental at this point -- D-Backs are still 18 games above .500 and the Cubs (in 3rd spot in Wildcard race) are a game below .500... my point was more that after that debacle, there's probably no way in hell we keep up with the Dodgers (not that most people were expecting that anyway).

They're beatable. NYM ousted them two years ago, with no one but Murphey hitting.

Of course they're beatable... any team is able to lose on any given day. Upsets are called upsets for a reason.
That LA team 2 years ago was nowhere near as talented and loaded as this team... which will make the odds of a Dback ousting of LA that much more challenging.
Can it happen? Of course it can... Would I bet on it? Hell no...
