Here is is playoff deciding series...

Quick outlook

Colorado has won 10 straight games entering the final game of their series tonight with the Dodgers. The Dodgers are pitching Loaiza against Colorado' Morrales.

But as far as this series goes...

Fri.- Webb Vs. Francis
Battle of the 17 game winners...

Sat.- Edgar Gonzalez Vs. Mark Redman

Sun- Doug Davis vs. Jimenez

Hot team in Colorado and with this series being played at Coors Field, it should be exciting. Go Dbacks!

We need one to stay ahead of the Rockies. We have 89 wins. They can win out and get to 90. A win by us puts us ahead of the Rockies for good. We likely need 1 more to get to the post season.

Yeah, but that is assuming that the Padres don't sweep... Remember, the Phillies are hot too right now

The Mets are now tied with the Phillies and both are two games behind the Diamondbacks.

OK, I know my math sucks, but as I interpret it as of tonight:

we're 89-70.
Pods 88-71.
Rox 87-72.
Mets 87-72.
Phils 87-72.

IF we were to lose the final three to Colorado, which we and they are capable of doing to us, we could end up 89-73, and they would be 90-72. We would, in that scenario, be behind the Rockies, and if the Pods take two more (and they seem to be rolling again), we could be sucking our thumbs in four days. The fat lady hasn't even cleared her throat on the regular season yet, folks -- too soon to relax -- we really have to win some more games.

This is nerve racking.

And absolutely pathetic that LA laid down for the Rockies. And the Brewers - they suck too!

Is the Sat. night game on Channel 3? I have DirecTV and the MLB Extra Innings Package and I'm seeing NOTHING.

yeah... I have never seen anything like this in my life.... going into the final weekend, the last three games, the Dbacks have the best record in the national league which means A VERY IMPORTANT home field advantage...

And yet, we may not even make the playoffs.... Colorado is seriously the LAST place I want to be the final three games of the season, but it is what it is....

Bottom line for me... we NEED to take 2 or 3 and if we can manage that we secure homefield advantage.. (assuming the brewers don't curl up and die without taking atleast one game)

yes if we win one, and finish 90-72, we would finsih 1 game better than the rockies (89-73), but still could be in a tie for the wilcard depending how the mets/phills do..

If either the mets OR the phills lose one this weekend, and we win one this weekend we will at least be in the playoffs.... Heres how I see it breaking down...

DBacks- 90-72
Padres- 90-72
rockies- 89-73

Cubs- 84-78

Phills- 90-72
Mets- 89-73

now i have no idea how the homefield advantage works in this scernio, but at least we are in.... but if we can take 2 of 3, we are 91-71, and unless the padres sweep the brewers, we will have homefield advantage...

So much, I am sooo nervous, but we basically have a best of 3 playoff series right now in Colorado... lets go Dbacks!

-important to note... Jake Peavy was suppose to start the last game of the seaon but was scratched in favor of brett Tomko...

We need more than one...

We only need to win one and we are in the playoffs. 90 wins will make it happen. At this point I'm only concerned about making the playoffs, winning our division is only a bonus.

Opps, I guess looking at it again one win by us and one loss by either the Phils of the Mets would do it.

But Webb sucks against the Rockies. This year he is 0-3 against them with a 6.47 ERA. Their starter is 1-0 against us this year with a 1.38 ERA and is 7-1 against us all time.
Let's hope that D'backs can defy the odds once again.

This is the game for me. If we can't win with our ace on the mound in this sitution, with Edgar going tomorrow, we are toast! MAKE IT HAPPEN TONIGHT!!!

I am so pumped for this series. I'd really love it if the Mets continued their downfall and AZ somehow pulled out 2/3 in Colorado. Home field advantage is huge.

God, talk about your nail-bitter seasons. Didn't realize it until today, but just about everyone has a shot a making the NL playoffs. It's crazy.

So, if we win tonite there is no way the rockies can win the division and all we have to worry about is the pads then right?

Yes. The magic number to make the playoffs is 2 (and we're competing against the Mets/Phillies) and the magic number to win the division is 3 (competing agaist the Padres).

Beat the Rockies.
