Devastating loss. I would of walked Hawpe when first base opened with the wild pitch, taking my chances with Spilborghs. I hate games like this.

You and me both. I don't know what to say, other than we lost to the freakin Rockies...their fans annoy the crap out of me.

Another tough loss. We get to Joe Table then give it right back. Bah.

Why is drew still hitting in the 8th spot? I know he is a rookie and does not have much experience, but you have to think hitting in front of the pitcher is not giving him the greatest pitches to look at so why not give him a few games to see what he can do. I would throw him in the 2 hole and move Hudson back to 7 where he has had his most success. Drew has 33 hits in 27 games with 16 of his 33 hits being for extra bases. I think that gives us our best chance to score when he is getting on base in scoring positition. Any thoughts?

Heh, totally agreed. Unless Drew gets a double it has to be a pain to bat in front of the pitcher.

On the topic of the game: 1-0 after Drew scores from second on a Byrnes single!

I do have to say, I like this lineup tonight, just not the order. I am having a hard time with a order.

E Byrnes CF
S Drew SS
L Gonzalez LF
J Estrada C
C Tracy 3B
C Quentin RF
O Hudson 2B
C Jackson 1B
M Batista P

What do you think. I am not ready to put Quentin hgher, but I like him at 6. Jackson needs some pressure off him and the 8th spot is nice. When Snyder plays, you just move everyone down and bat him 8th.

With a side note, Miguel can tie a career high with his 11th win tonight with a victory. He did in AZ back in 2001, a speacial year in AZ.

Then lets hope he can get that win.

As for the batting order, I might move Byrnes down a few spots to be a clean up hitter, he does lead the team in homeruns. Maybe put Drew in the 5th spot, he's too good to be batting in front of the pitcher.

Great hustle by Byrnes to get a double out of what was supposed to be a bloop single in the 10th inning. I love watching this guy play. They just intentionally walked Hudson to get to Gonzo. Show em what you can do Gonzo

I can't take watching this team much longer. The manager is really poor (holes throughout the lineup) and I just can't stand Gonzo any more. It looks like he is just waiting for the season to end and like he wants me to feel sorry for him. He should not get any more time in the field and certainly not at the plate. This team is going nowhere (offense isn't nearly good enough) this year and it's time for another new face in the OF.

It is pretty bad that we can only "keep up" with the Rockies, but, I'm going to stay hopeful for a better next year. I know I am one of the last Gonzo fans, but even I'm too the point where this guy should retire.
We definetly need some better pitching and a few sluggers, but I'll still have faith that Josh Byrnes will do this team good in the next few years.

On a positive note Valverde was solid in his return tonight (2 innings). Back to the negative - Rockies pitchers have made every hitter look foolish these past two games. I know that it is just a bad stretch of offense, but it makes me want to stop watching for a few weeks. Quentin has really fallen back to earth with a thud, but he is young and needs more time and experience. He is learning from bad example, apparently, as his swing looks worse each passing game and his judgement is going with it. Drew is solid and exciting though. I do think that next year will be better, but not much until the coaching staff gets better.

Valverde had a great return, very impressed. Mark Grace said it best, when we have our pitching, our offence is dead. When we have the offence, the pitching gives up runs.

Quentin I think is just getting used to the majors, I think he'll be fine here once he gets used to it. I don't know how big the rivalry is between the Rockies and D'backs, but the Rockie' fans booing us could have something to do with it.

Much too high. But these DBack youngsters are swinging at everything, so I think that the ump is starting to oblige them and call them strikes.

There comes a point where these games are rediculous. Suddenly the bullpen gets overworked and you lose two or three for the sake of trying to win one.

I was hoping that the Rockies would have ended it there. The DBacks deserve the loss - but unfortunately the Rockies are as inept as the DBacks.

This is a great game and I'm really happy that Papa Grande is back and pitching well. I have to go so this is what i'll say:

If we win, that was a great game. We needed this win after these last couple of losses and the Dodgers playing so well.

If we lose, gosh darnit, they stole another one. I'm pissed, we are falling behind the standings fast.

How is it that these guys have baseball careers? I guarantee that I can do as well at the plate as that sequence from the top of the "order". And yet it hasn't changed all night. Where is the coaching? Where are the players telling others to calm down and quit swinging for the fences? What a joke! Nice 0 for 7 there Gonzo. I think you actually made contact twice tonight!
