So how come Cruz only went one inning? Seems to me that in a long game like this, he'd be incredibly valuable because he can go starter's innings.

Dear god...15th inning....can we just score a run.

Edit: Well, it's the top of the 16th...how long do you think it would take too fly the Ahwatukee little league team into Denver?

I think they should just call it and give both teams a loss. They aren't even interested in playing anymore.

You think it's bad? the Houston game went 18 innings.

But yeah, I see your point. This is going to kill our bullpen.

I am fascinated by this display tonight. It is now near midnight - for me - and I am still up watching this crap. The joke that is this game - and DBacks bball for the past week or so - is like observing a car wreck.

Yeah, no kiddin. I've pretty much lost interest in the game, now I'm just laughing that increadibly stupid Colorado Rockies mascot.

Oh yeah, what state are you in?

*game note: we're now in the 17th inning....a few more like this, and we could have the season record!

These poor pitchers are going to start throwing batting practice fastballs here soon. It will be who connects first.

How's Utah? I hear it's nice.

Hopefully we'll win out, but hell. The most any hitter has done on either team is hit a ground ball out. The last time anyone on anyteam has reached base was...well it was a long time ago. Possibly back before we went into extras.

Utah is nice. It is Arizona with a few more mountains closer to the cities and snow in the winter. But the economy is good and it's a good place ot raise a family.

I am not sure how much more of this game I can watch. I have to get up in about 6 hours for work, so I hope that 18 innings is the magic number.

That's good, I've always wanted to visit Salt lake City.

So would I, but don't get your hopes up. After the 18th I'm going to sleep, no matter what.

Edit: Oh thank god!!!! We scored a run!!! it only took 15 innings.

How is it that these guys have baseball careers? I guarantee that I can do as well at the plate as that sequence from the top of the "order". And yet it hasn't changed all night. Where is the coaching? Where are the players telling others to calm down and quit swinging for the fences? What a joke! Nice 0 for 7 there Gonzo. I think you actually made contact twice tonight!

Who had the go ahead RBI hit?

Great timing for his only hit, but Gonzo has still had a pretty bad night at the plate.

If Medders gets 3 outs without giving up a run, I think Gonzo had a great night since he won the game and all.

Gonzo "comes through" with a seeing eye single for the RBI. I will give him due credit for that - it puts a spit shine on his pile of crap that is 1-8. But that has been the entire team minus Tracy and Byrnes tonight.

Perhaps that hit will warm Gonzo up a little for the home stretch. He started off July hot but has been pretty lean lately. A few big hits here and there. But when he complains about playing time and then rolls over easy pitches for groundouts or routinely hits popups with men in scoring position - he would be addition by subtraction.

I love it when you win in loooooong extra innings. You do have to think, why can't our BullPen do that kind of lights-out pitching all the time?!

The team could certainly use Livan eating up some innings tomorrow also, let's hope the bats don't just magically come to life (at least, not the Rockies' bats).

Nope, just a looooong game of swinging and missing - and not seeming to care about missing other than Jackson would show some emotion. Byrnes was also showing emotion but then again he got a couple of hits... So I am not sure why the :roll eyes: is warranted here, as the game was not a gem by any stretch of the imagination, even though it was 2-1 in 18. The bullpens were good - in particular for the DBacks Valverde was solid - but the hitters had a huge say in that. Flat pitches down the middle, hanging sliders, you name it, were there for the taking from both sides and were either fouled off or weakly popped-up.
