... the same day Livingston is released from Miami. Could he be coming here? Or is there another trade in the works? Barbs was not at practice yesterday. Or maybe another big man?
Someone has to be signed, at least in a 10 day contract basis, right?
Just a financial move by the Suns. Brown's contract would've become guaranteed if they didn't release him this week. Wouldn't be surprised to see him brought back on a 10 day contract basis. I don't think there's much this in terms of a trade or anything.

Yup
They signed him because they had to, the Suns will not sign or aquire another impact player this season. We're not trying to win a championship, just trying to make it out of the first round.
You sure? Wasn't Linton Johnson on a 10 day contract basis pretty much all season while he was here? He was on our playoff roster. Unless maybe you have to sign them to a guaranteed deal to get them on your playoff roster, but by then, the contract is probably peanuts anyway.Yes and no. You can't have 10 day contracts in the playoffs. (IIRC) So they will have to sign someone to a guaranteed contract eventually. They are going to use the 10 day contracts to find someone, but it isn't just a financial move per se. Why pay someone (Dee Brown) if you aren't confident in his abilities?
This just buys them more time.

I thought there was a season wide rule where you can't sign a player to more than 2 consecutive 10 day contracts. After the second one you have to sign them for the remainder of the season. Almost positive this is true.
So for Linton, that was pretty much just another 10 day deal with the way we were bounced early...That's what I'm thinking. I thought we signed Linton Johnson at the end of the year. I may be mistaken though.
edit... Yep, we signed him on April 16th for the rest of the season last year.
You could be right.I thought there was a season wide rule where you can't sign a player to more than 2 consecutive 10 day contracts. After the second one you have to sign them for the remainder of the season. Almost positive this is true.

It seems like we had Linton for a couple 10 days, then he went away, and we brought him back again. Maybe that was the playoff signing?
I hope they bring in Shaun Livingston.
Agreed. He should be good for 5 to 10 minutes a game. Plus, from what I remember of him, he was a serviceable player. We don't need him to be Nash. Just play good enough to give him a break every now and then.
