Wasn't the entire point of becoming team grit to come through in the clutch? How ironic.

Kennedy did pitch like crap but we would have been out of the 5th unscathed if Prado could field a damn ground ball.

"All"? Not quite... Hernandez has something to do with it... and the fact that we left the bases loaded 3 times, and left a total of 16 runners on base - yea, that might have a little something to do with it as well... ;)

You're right.

According to fangraphs.com, Hernandez and Didi had more impact on the loss than Kennedy, with Goldy, Bell, and Chavy doing the most to help us win.

If you look at the numbers they've been pretty clutch but playing with fire will eventually get you burned. They're 10th in ERA and 14th in runs scored. When you're this mediocre there's not a lot of margin for error.

Pretty clutch? Check where they are at with runners in scoring position, you know when it actually counts.

Nieves can't hit a curveball if his life depended on it. Another bad at-bat as he swings at pitches low and outside. Another wasted opportunity with the bases loaded. Luckily Eaton ignored Williams' stop sign.

True, I was thinking of their record in one run and extra inning games.

Excellent job by Miley, the team desperately needed that. Particularly the bullpen given last night.

Miley looked like the Miley of last year. Up 3-1 bottom of the 8th.

A split against the Cubs was not the plan, however, we desperately needed the win tonight.
Miley looked solid and Zeegs is stepping up as our only legit closer.
Nieves continues to provide some pop in place of Miggy. Eaton is a real force - his speed and aggression are true game changers. Kubel still blows enormous chunks. Gibby sitting Hill the past few days seemed to pay dividends as Aaron crushed the ball all night tonight.
I think Goldy can use a rest - though he won't get one. He looks mentally fatigued at the plate.
Prado is really swinging the bat so much better than he has at any other point in the season.
Parra remains sub-Parra... :)
We still need a legit bat in our outfield... Still need more consistency from our starting pitching - Kennedy is having a horrendous season. Skaggs is still young and learning which brings inconsistency. Cahill is on his way back (I know... So what...). We need another legit starter...

For the life of me I can't figure out why any pitcher would pitch to Goldy... There is literally no one behind him in the order that should be even remotely be feared. Just pitch around him in every at bat. Hope he swings at a bunch of bad pitches and if the worst case is you walk him, big deal. It's not like he'll eventually come around to score...
