It's diffantly easier to catch & throw, especially in cold or wet weather. Our QB back in the day on our national championship flag football team used to do this every game, but we did use our own NFL balls though. It's an advantage no doubt!!!

Maybe I'm just dumb but how does the air pressure inside the ball change its weight ?

When it gets cold the air pressure in a ball decreases so it the per lb pressure is less. Not weight per say and the ball is easier to grip for a QB and WR.

Then what would Luck be complaining about?

Apparently the ball the Pats used was under inflated and against the rules. Somehow Luck got ahold of one in the first half, reported it to his coaches, adn they reported it to the refs. The refs then took one of the balls to weigh.

Yeah, but how would he even know to get ahold of one? And then if he was right wouldn't it already be known because they weighed the ball.

Stupid that NFL officials wouldn't be responsible for the balls from start to finish.

The home plate umpire in baseball is responsible for rubbing all the balls to be used in the game with Delaware mud. You'd think an NFL official would oversee the balls. Also, this isn't the first time a coach has been accused of doing something with the ball. Bum Phillips once accused John Madden of putting helium in balls punted by Ray Guy. He went so far as to have his receiver fair catch aa punt so he could bring the ball back to Phillips so he could have it analyzed.

I remember this, it was such a farce. I suspect the deflated ball thing will turn out similar.

Thinking about this it really becomes silly. The refs are handling the ball on each and every play from picking it up after a play to getting it tossed to them after a play to setting it down at the line of scrimmage to start the next play. If the balls were deflated wouldn't at least one of them notice and throw that ball out for another one? If they kept getting deflated balls when the Patriots were on offense wouldn't they begin to question it? Total silliness.

What a stupid story. I hope they come up with a better story line than this for the next two weeks.

NFL has found that 11 of the Patriots footballs used in Sunday’s AFC title game were under-inflated by 2 lbs each, per league sources.

As NFL investigates Deflate-gate would be wise to speak to Ravens. Some there believe kicking balls used in their playoff game underinflated

There appeared to be less air in some kicking balls which may have had an impact on the depth of punts and kickoffs in AFC Divisional game

An NFL spokesman said as of tonight they had no knowledge of a Ravens complaint about the kicking balls from their playoff game

To me this is a non issue, just like spy-gate or whatever. When millions, perhaps billions, of dollars are involved, organizations will do anything. All it tells me is Bellichik isn't that good at it because he keeps getting caught.

I really don't care about any of this stuff. I expect them to try.

Only thing concerns me is refs. When they start, or continue, rigging games and fixing them, then we have a problem. Undermines the whole game of football. Individual teams trying to get an edge doesn't bother me.

Regarding integrity though, all on the refs. No easier way to fix a game than getting to the refs, who are part time and not really professional IMO.

Did both teams use the same balls?

No. Each team provides their own 12 balls each game. The Patriots play with theirs and the Colts played with theirs.

Not sure if any were used for kicking or special teams play - or if the NFL provides those balls.

Gotta wonder why the NFL doesn't provide the balls to play with?

The MLB doesn't regulate bats but sometimes checks them if the opposing teams complain of pine tar. I remember Sammy Sosa getting busted for using a corked bat.

Didn't George Brett get caught for using pine tar?
