Hey guys, I was looking at getting a directv system set up at my house, I am getting sick of cox and have been thinking about sat. for a long time. Anyways, I have a couple of questions maybe people on this board could help me with:

1.) Does Directv show road games on UPN? I think they have fox sports net so home wont be a problem, but I didnt see UPN on the channel listing.

2.) Anyone with the Hughes tivo unit....is it worth it? I have a stand alone unit right now that I am selling on ebay. I was going to replace it with a new replay box, but this idea of the Hughes unit seemed interesting. Any thoughts??

Thanks guys

I'm not sure if DirecTV would cover the UPN games. However, UPN being basic programming you could hook up a regular antaenna to the unit to pick that channel up. You'd think me working in the Video Department at Best Buy I would know this...

well from a pure feature standpoint now....replay kicks tivo's ass. witht eh second series of both units, replay added features where tivo just increased storage space and added a usb port.

problem with hooking up an antennae cable is that the dvr will only record from the satelite if it is a combo unit. but maybe upn comes in over the local channels provided by directv??

the biggest advantage i can see to the combo unit is that it is already compressed, therefor you get the max 35 hours unless you get something in dolby. the only thing is i have a hd tv...and the replay has component hookups where the combo doesnt (should be the other way around IMO, but whatever).

i think i might have just answered a lot of my own questions :D

if anyone has any other thoughts though, please do let me know
