I have faith It'll all get worked out but we shall see. I tweeted him to stop playing with my emotions.

He made $8.75 million in 2014 while on IR since training camp. He is due $9.8m this year coming off ACL injury and will be 34 years old.

Big leap. While there may be a reasonable to suggest that may be the cause I wouldn't say "must have".

yeah, didn't mean it to be taken 100% literal. It can be changed to may have, dont care, just passing along info.

He is a warrior and an emotional guy but he has to be realistic. At his age and coming off an ACL what is he really worth in the open market? I doubt he can reconcile that fact but if he could my hope and belief is that the Cards would pay him more than anyone else would out of loyalty. Bet thats closer to $2M than $9M.

I know, I deleted, especially when my reading comprehension kicked in. The part about "ill be in az next year 1way or another rather".

Good post. Sorry brother.

He'd be lucky to get 4 mill on the open market

I think he's like a boxer who's had a few too many to the head yet wants another round.

He's no longer dominant...and his cheerleading last year cost the club 8 million dollars.

Guess he thought 'If I can make 8 million cheering, shoot I should make 16 mill playing.'

Dockett isn't one to hold back his emotions and that doesn't sound like the talk went well at all. Bummer.

Was hoping he understood the situation. 34 years old. Coming off major knee surgery. I really hoped he would be a Cardinal for life.

I'm sure in his heart he believes that he will be stronger than ever and deserves to be paid like a pro bowler. However Father Time catches up with us all. Sounds like the Cardinals will have to move on.

See when I saw it, I read it completely differently.

I read it as him being amazed people were even asking and he was responding, "Ill be in AZ 1way or another rather some people will never know what loyalty is means"

Meaning, he is going to be here, why are people questioning someone as loyal as him, they must not know what loyalty means.

DD will be here next year....They will take his remaining salary, make it guaranteed and spread it over an extra year or two. Just like they did Fitz

The full tweet implies he will either be here for 8 games (staying with the Cardinals) or 1 game (going to a division rival or some other team on our schedule).

Threats work great in the workplace

Especially being an employee coming off ACL surgery and being past 30 in a 21-28 year old league.

Here we go...

the rush by fans to belittle and vilify a Cardinals player because he MIGHT be leaving.

One of our ************ rivals would sign him just to get the defensive playbook. Schofield anyone?

Honestly, and Dockett's one of my favorites, but re-signing Tommy Kelly or Frostee Rucker, and developing Ed Stinson and Kareem Martin, probably makes more sense than retaining Dockett.

Sadly.

Oh I never saw the 1 game or 8 part of the comment.

And I still feel very comfortable things will get done and he will be a Card for the next few years at a very fair number to him and the team.

Yeah, I know that's what I thought about a player who never played under Arians and Bowles.... "That damn Schofield, KNOWING all of our damn plays on defense!"

If they do, it's Dockett bringing it on himself. No reason to stir up controversy by tweeting something like that.

It's a business. Dock would be a fool to stay for less than he could make elsewhere. Why would he stay at a rate(I assume it wasn't much) that he could exceed elsewhere. He should take the dead money from the Cards and get a "lucrative" contract elsewhere. I am all about loyalty but there comes a time to move on. I don't blame him or the Cards. We saw what happened for the league minimum(Tommy Kelly). All the posturing is typical of Dockett...nothing new.

This is great! - if everyone on here ******* and figures he is gone, then he will be restructured to retire a Card in no time.
