Didn't want to see DD leave and certainly not to the 9ers. I'm not sure that we couldn't have matched their offer or even beat it to keep him here. Pinching pennies is not always the smartest move. 9ers GM is very good and has assembled a ton of talent on that team so it's not like this was Snyder going gaga in FA again.

Other side of the coin is that DD has basically done what he called Los out for, simply chasing some extra $$$$$$$$. Plus I thought DD HATED the 9ers!?!?!?!?!?

Bottom line it's just a business and all the other fluff is pure crap 98% of the time.

Thanks for effort and play while you were here DD.

But have you made $50 mil + in your career? Is your new employer spinning out of control and likely going to miss the playoffs for the foreseeable future? Do you have to kick your old boss in the balls when you leave?

IMO Dockett gave up his shot at a ring for $1.5m after he's already earned more than enough money to feed his family for generations.

Which actually makes me care even less that he left.

irrelevant if you have made a lot of money, you can always made more. Plus they gave him the security of a two year deal.

Ah but according to Dockett himself money isn't supposed to motivate.

And what security? They can cut him any time they want. This isn't the NBA. All he guaranteed himself was an extra 1.5, period.

Right business move for all involved. Couldn't gave been a worse PR move for dock. Smfh. You can't yap loyalty at Dansby then chase money yourself. Karlos never made any statements that painted him as anything less than a mercenary.

It's actually a 1-year deal $4m guaranteed (bonus + salary) if he's on the roster week one. They can easily walk away after 2015 with a small dead $$$ hit.

Did you miss the prior 3 years and the SB appearance and NFC championship games and............

Look at their roster and tell me there aren't like 10 players you would want on the Cards.

I'm not going to defend Dockett, but how much of that $50+ million do you think he has left?

He gave Cardinals chance to match the offer last night, and we declined. Per Jurecki.

I love rivalries so Cards vs 49ers just got a little better.

I don't blame him for taking the money.

I don't blame the Cardinals for not matching.

If he wants to get beat twice a year by his former team, that is his choice.

supposedly rings mattered but that team doesnt appear to be ready to chase a ring anymore. We shall see.

There are no more players on that team that I'd want than any other team.

Again, pay attention to what is ACTUALLY happening there unless you are just intent on arguing for the sake of arguing. Trent Baalke and Jed York are running that franchise into the ground without Harbaugh.

There was a guy named...

ALBERT PUJOS...revered as a "god" in St. Louis. Apparently, thought the $$ was MORE important and left for California a few years back. Now, it's Albert"who"?? A "legend" falls by the way-side...What could have been in the approaching years now...WON'T.

$$ comes and goes...but a man's "legacy" lasts FOREVER!

Mark in SC :)

Firmly believing we'll be a BETTER TEAM after free-agency.

Oh, and as for the team that Pujos left?? Appearances in the last 4 championship series ...AND a WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP on their resume'.

I think you give Harbaugh too much credit and not enough to Baalke but time will tell. Harbaugh is a quality HC but I agree with all those that think his message wears thin with the players and his shelf life is similar to Parcells in that their tactics get old fairly quickly so they pull up stakes and take their show to the next town every 4 years or so.

Why would Harbaugh opt for a college gig instead of another NFL team??? Is it because in college the roster turns over so quickly that his message and tactics don't get old?

I remember thinking that I hope the 9ers don't hire Harbaugh or for that matter any decent HC because their roster was LOADED with talent. Credit to Harbaugh for sure but he inherited a very stocked kitchen.

I am surprised they offered him more, he is no where near as valuable there as he is here. That D already has leadership, he will no longer be the leader and soul of the team, now he will just be a player. They have a ton of depth too which makes me wonder if he will start. niner fan buddy thinks they are moving to 4-3, that would help dock as there will be 2 DT's so his odds would go up.

I would have loved for Dock to play out his run here but understand why he didnt. No hard feelings here. He gave the team a chance to match the offer and they declined. (which I also understand)

I will still be rocking my 90 jersey on game days except when we play the niners of course.

I will welcome him back into the flock if/when that day comes.
