Not a chance. He clearly doesnt want to be in AZ. He had to be begged to take the OC job and once he had it was going to tender his resignation half way through the season.

I dont like that type of attitutde at all. Instead of resigining try working a little harder at being an OC. I think he got in over his head and when the going got tough he wanted to bail!

Good riddance!

I don't know. His track record is pretty good but what was up with Gilmore starting as the #2 WR for so long?
The more playing time Johnson got the more his confidence seemed to improve and the better he played. Yet Gilmore kept getting the starts over him.
It seemed Sullivan was concerned only about the speed of the WR instead of the ability to make catches on game day.

he will not be back..period.. If he was only going to be receivers coach - he was going to Dallas with Parcells..he only stayed here because we (his buddy mac) twisted his arm into being OC..and he tried to resign from that in the middle of the season....I am sure he is gone..

MJ also said that 2 assistants wanted to see more of McCown and Parsons earlier.

I am only guessing, but I suspect that one of those people was Sullivan.

About Sullivan trying to quit - He didn't want the job to begin with. He is NOT an offensive mastermind. He is a WR COACH.

I'm sure if a good, solid HC comes and offers him the WR coach position he might take it. Who wouldn't want to be Q's WR coach!
I don't think he would be able to pass up working with a good HC and BJ and Q.

Of course, if we hire a former assistant or another scrub, he's gone.

Today I'm going for quality over quantity. I made another long post today as well (kerouac's thread).

But come tommorow, you will be nailed with

:raccoon:

Don't worry, as I will mix in some of these long posts as well.

Jurecki implied that Jeep Chryst and sullivan were the two coaches who wanted parsons over mccown (he made some statement like: it is the two coaches who are closest to the situation - and neither is the head coach)..that would be the OC and the QB coach..he made some comment that you get three guesses and the last one does not count - i.e. - you can figure it out...

I hope its not true because I really liked Mac and want to respect him as a coach.
I hope it IS true because it could mean this team will perform a lot better with a coach who will evaluate players based on ability rather than draft position and contract size.

I would welcome Sully back if he would coach the WRs. I don't think it will happen but you never know. I just think he was in over his head as the OC.

Yea

I stated on another thread it might not be a bad idea to bring him back in that capacity. It's what he loves doing.

I dont care what hapened with Sully as far as the OC position goes!

The bottom line is that he is probably the best WR coach in the NFL. He flat out knows how to coach the hell out of that position. Watching him hour after hour is one of the true joys of training camp!

Any coach that wouldnt consider bringing him back in that capacity would be an idiot! I hope to see him back in that position although I dont think it will happen!

Heck, yeah.

So he wasn't any good at the OC position. Why did he get that promotion? Because he was a great WR coach, right?

It's like making a your best waiter the restaraunt manager. Just 'cause he's good at one thing doesn't mean he'll be good at another. It's two different skill sets. If the waiter isn't a good manager, do you kick him to the curb? No, you tell him he's the best damn waiter you've ever seen, and there's always a place for him serving your customers. Why get rid of your best waiter?

I'd love to have him back, but it won't happen. He'll end up in Dallas, most likely.

Tho', coaching the Quan might be enough of an enticement....

But what if the waiter says "Ya know I dont really want this job as manager....I think I will quit right now in the middle of the dinner rush on New Years Eve"

Do you still go "Thats ok, just be our waiter again?" HELL NO!

Let him walk! He isnt a team player and obviously doesnt care that much about the restaraunt or he would either A) stick it out until a more suitable time to resign or B) would show he is a team and work harder at being a better manager!

BYE BYE SULLY!

that's bologna!! He wanted to step down because he found out the position was too much to handle. What he was doing was not working. He was probably like someone posted bumping heads with others. He wanted to take the fall and let someone else take the reigns before it got too bad. So after that they just played offense by committee. Let him go back to his comfort zone as a WR coach and keep him.

I really, really like Johnny Roland as a person, but I don't know how good of a RB coach he is. We've never really had a good running game here.

But dammit, if Johnny isn't a really great guy. The same can be said of Mac too, I guess...
