One of only 20 something players in MLB history to dawn the Texas Star.

Are the Dbacks going for some kind of strikeout record?

How can you say ALL we'd have to give up he's a .300 20 HR 80 RBI guy that has three years left on a small contract and the clubhouse loves him. ALL we'd be getting is a rent a player. I'd like to see Tray here for a while, he's so versatile, he can play 1B with Conor in LF or if we can't afford to sign Hudson Reynolds can move to his natural position of 2B with Tracy at 3B and Conor back to 1B with Byrnes in LF

At this point I'd rather have Tracy than Dunn.

Tracy is a .300+, 20HR, 80+RBI guy.

no thanks.....Tracy is hitting lights out and is under contract for a couple more years. With the influx of players that hit under .250 on this team, its nice to see someone who hits .300

Id keep Tracy. Dunn has a high OBP and high home runs, but low average and strikes out a ton. Maybe if the D'backs could teach him to strike out less, but thats unlikely ,this team loves striking out. Plus Dunn on this team means Jackson back to 1B and Tracy seems better at 1st defensively. Dunn seems to be in the mold of Glaus and Sexson, good HR number but low average, kind of empty power if you will.

Trading for Dunn would be trading for the sake of making a trade. Granted Dunn homers about once every ten at bats. Tracy is hitting very well now and even is hitting his fellow lefthanders better than righthanders. Great arguments, everyone, for keeping Charlotte Chad. The contractual situations along with the versatility he brings to the table wins it for the redhead.

I think at this point, I would rather have Tracy all things considered. Our bats are finally coming to life a little bit, and we need to keep players in there who will put the ball in play. Tracy has been doing that as well as anyone on the team besides Co Jack and Hudson lately.

Dunn completely mashes. I don't think we have had a guy who really compares to Dunn when he is healthy. Sexton was only here for a half season it seems but Dunn has consistently hit 40 home runs for the past 4 seasons and is on track to hit another 40 this season.

I don't think that he gets us over the hump and into the world series, but he's a pretty good bat to have in a lineup and would be welcome addition, especially for those of us who have seats in the RF bleachers!

Luis Gonzalez was that guy for a couple years. :) Kinda. When he "drank a lot of milk."

Tracy is NOT better defensively at first than Conor Jackson...

i have never seen tracy drop a pop-up, i have seen co-jack drop at least 2 in foul ground. plus conor is always unsure whether to go to second on a ground ball to him for the double play, or take the easy one out. most of the time it seems he makes the wrong decision. i love him in left though. big surprise thus far.

What are the DBacks gonna do when Byrnes comes back? Eric will go back to left field and CoJack is hitting everything right now and has been one of the only consistent guys on the team this season and Tracy has been good after getting his swing back from being on the DL for so long. Now that Emilio is gone and Orlando will be looking for "Chase Utley" money this year, will they move Reynolds back to 2B? Jamie D'antona goes to 3B? I'd be happy with that.

Regarding Reynolds, he has very little experience at 2nd. Only 24 of his 244 minor league games were played there (along with 100 at 3B, 89 at SS, 23 at OF, and 8 at 1B), in addition to primarily being a shortstop in college.

This came up on another thread. My opinion was, as much as I want to see Justin Upton (.242), or perhaps a lefty-righty platoon of him and Alex Romero (.244) in RF, if it's a question of whom to bench if they insist on returning Eric Byrnes to the starting lineup . . . it's got to be bench the young guys and play Brynes in RF.

Regarding CoJack, not only is it a question of his feeling uncomfortable playing 1B (as he's said), it affected his hitting.

Bob Melvin would have to be totally out of his mind to move Conor Jackson out of LF -- Byrnes or no Byrnes.

I'd like to keep Drew at SS. If O-Dog leaves, then we will figure something out but I do like Drew at SS. I feel comfortable with his above average defense there. Maybe D'antona can play at 3B and Reynolds can move to 2B and then we don't have to worry about those high arching throws as much.

I think that if we do lose Hudson, Upton might go to 2B, Byrnes will go to RF and Connor stays in left. Tracy and Reynolds are on the corners. D'Antona will be a utility guy who can play C, 1B, & 3B when necessary.

While the throws would be shorter, I don't think Reynolds has the lateral quickness to play 2B at the Major League level.

I don't know why people are worried about when Byrnes comes back, just have him be your 4th outfielder/hustle guy off the bench. Sure, he's making way too much money for that role, but ah well. Eric Byrnes is an energy/hustle guy, like Craig Counsell, they never should've given him that contract, they just have to bite the bullet and use him as the 4th outfielder.

I'd like their lineup to try to have some firmness to it, Melvin mixes things up so freakin' much, it seems like that must be detrimental to the young guys development. Let Brynes play any of the 3 OF positions when guys need a day off, and CoJack can play spot duty at 1st if Tracy needs a rest to keep him off the DL, but for the most part leave him in left.
