For some reason the new software won't let me quote it but someone said a better comparison is Jordan leaving the Bulls for Detroit in the mid 90's. That I would get but the Bulls lost to the Pistons THREE years in a row, OKC lost to the Warriors once, not 3 years running.
My point wasn't to say that it was a perfect comparison, but that it was a better comparison than the ones you were presenting.

Huh? Are you referring to him going to Houston at the ripe old age of 34 ?

No, I was just talking about the motivation of winning a championship. And for the big names, IMO, it's not as much about winning a championship as it is protecting their legacy. It wasn't always this way. Superstars in team sports were graded on their merit, now it's merit plus championship. And without that ring, getting due respect is an uphill battle.

That may be so, but i don't find anything embarrassing about the decisions Barkley made in terms of switching teams(PHI. PHX, HOU) in relation to Durant. Maybe i misinterpreted you. No biggie.

Yeah I was just talking about the embarrassment of being a great player without a ring.

IF the Warriors win a title or even more with Durant its always gonna be, "You just piggybacked on that 73 win team to get your rings."

Use the "+" option at the top of your reply if you haven't already tried it to add a quote.

Yeah it wouldn't work it just kept changing to a - and then back to a + but never let me quote. i've been quoting since the change I know it works but with THIS one, wouldn't work

I wasn't actually comparing I was calling out Mao for having one set of "rules" in the NBA and a completely different set for college because he's an Arizona fan.

People used to trash Calipari for landing so many stars every year, now we have Coach K using the national team job to recruit players for him, Miller doing it with Arizona, national team etc. Remember when Calipari took the Dominican National job and people trashed him for doing it to get a player off that team, who turned out to be Towns?

Beyond words.

Well if literally producing a quote from the guy you were claiming left to be the man, explaining he literally left for the OPPOSITE reason, won't convince you I don't know what will.

Shaq himself says you're wrong.

Dont care about this at all. Durant didn't owe OKC a thing. Just like Lebron didn't owe Cleveland anything.

It's just that Durant isn't so obsessed/impressed/infatuated with himself that he felt the need to have a TV special to make the "decision."

Big kudos to the OKC ownership for being incredibly classy in their response to this as well and not throwing a little temper tantrum like the Cavs owner did.

I wish KD the best, and OKC the best. They were one of those likable, really good teams that just could never quite get over the top. We're really well acquainted with that here in Phx. :(

For those of you that can't understand, I have to guess you haven't played a lot of rec ball.

Bitch move. And I'm sure he doesn't care, but Durants just a bitch in my eyes from a basketball perspective. I'm sure I'd really like him as a person, even respect him. But as a competitor and an athlete . . . bitch.

I thought I would mention it just in case.

One of the problems I am experiencing is when I am editing a post (or so I think), I get a duplicate. It only happens occasionally. Luckily deleting the duplicate post has been easy.

I'm still learning how to steer this ship.

Yep I love the new update but you have to pay attention or you wind up like I did earlier where I quoted 2 different posts in the same post accidentally.

Shaq himself says you're wrong.

Shaw is SPINNING AFTER THE FACT. You really expect him to say "i left because I wanted to go to the bigger market, get bigger endorsements, have my own team and be able to make movies?" He left because a) the Lakers were immediately showering him with more money then the Magic offered b) he hated sharing the limelight with Penny and c) he wanted to be the king of big market. That was beyond apparent at the time and him spinning things afterward to make him look like less of a clown, doesn't change the reality of the situation.

Your theory that he went to a better situation being equal to what Durant did is a complete and utter joke along with your theory that no one would bitch if Durant went to a 73 win Laker team and that "everyone" expected him to go there... when pretty much NO ONE expected him to go there except delusional Laker fans and apparently you, after the fact.
