Washington statement

“I am committed to making changes in my life that will allow me to return to the NFL as soon as possible,”
Washington said, apologizing to his teammates, coaches, and the rest of the Cardinals for his actions.

Washingtons response through his agent.

A bunch of lip service if you ask me. He said the same thing last year.

He said he just learned about it, which means Cards did not know about it when he got his bonus, the draft, or Dansby departure. 3 things that would have changed dramatically if known about earlier IMO.

Some of you can't wrap your head around the facts

D. Wash was in the substance abuse program....failed twice...this is his third strike

He's out 1 year FOR SURE

He will be suspended AGAIN upon return for the abuse charge. The NFL hasn't even dealt with that yet

2013 4 games
2014 16 games
2015 a minimum of 4-6 games

He has been tested a max of 10 times per month...and he knows it yet failed again.
If he fails again it's a lifetime ban

Wouldn't the 2015 ban be 16 games, too? Could/Would the NFL ban the guy a full season for drugs, then turn around and give him a lighter punishment for assault/battery (even considering the multiple offense factor on the drug issue)?

That's nice *******, but your return better not be to my team which you keep screwing over and embarrassing.

The Cardinals and the Fans have heard that one before Mr Washington.

Fool me once shame on you.

Fool me twice shame on me.

We will rally around Minter , and we will play good football .

Great echo of Vermeil's comment when Trent Green went down to knee injury and the Rams went with Warner at QB.

Miniter was a high pick by this coaching staff---they must have seen something to like when he was selected. He will become our Mike Singletary and will give us great production at ILB.

I thought the conduct policy and the substance abuse policy ran on independent tracks. I thought one had no bearing on the other, but I could be wrong.

If you took the time to read the Personal Conduct Policy AND the Collective Bargaining Agreement, once you reach the level of getting suspensions it's all the same.

No matter how talented the guy is ON the field, you can't rely on him off the field.

Hope Larry Foote has another year in him. Cardinals inside linebacker depth is non-existent.

I already thought this guy was a POS for the abuse. I blame him more than anybody for the Cardinals not making the playoffs last year. Now I hate him for being unbelievably stupid also. I mean you know you're going to get caught and for what? Weed? I would have more respect for him if he was addicted to something like coke and messed up. I really hope I don't see one word of support from his teammates. He doesn't deserve it.

I don't ever want to see him in a Cardinals uniform again, and I hope like hell they can get all or some of that bonus back (not holding my breath).

NFL has seemed to run a two track system for players
1 for drugs (of any kind)
2 for criminal behavior

It is my guess...after watching the NFL like a hawk for 20+ seasons

D. Wash if he completes his classes and doesn't fail another test he will be able for reinstatement next season.
The day he is reinstated he will then be punished for the abuse charges

My guess is that he will get 4-6 games then be fully reinstated

IF HE FAILS ANOTHER DRUG TEST HE WILL BE BANNED FOR LIFE!

He still keeps his millions, his Super Cars, His mansion(s) and everything else...

did ANYONE on this board think this would be a year? Who is this directed at?

I said he was looking at eight games at least, and a year was not out of the question.

Hell, it's not like I just guessed. Anyone can google the CBA and the Personal Conduct Policy and read it themselves.

Just like everything it boils down to potential

he has too much playing ability for the Cards to cut loose.

They'll ride it out...bet on it

I really wish we would have been able to keep Dansby. Losing him and D-Weed really hurts this team. I think Minter will be a solid player for us but not at the same level they were. If I were the Cards I would try Sam Acho inside. He is both smart enough and athletic enough to make the move to the inside. As far as D-Weed those that said he is stupid hit the nail on the head. He knew he would be tested and suspended if he did drugs again and he did it anyway. I'm all for giving a guy a second chance but he's already burned through his second chance. If I fail just one piss test I lose both my job and my license. I can't even re-apply for my coastguard license for a year. I get tested 4-7 times a year like clockwork. I don't smoke pot because I know I will lose everything if I get caught. How hard is it for D-Weed to learn not to smoke pot. Like somebody else said he can smoke it everyday when his career is over.

The NFL is a joke if he was suspended 1 year for weed.

its the NFLPAs agreement.

its his fourth dirty UA, he was well aware of it and still did it.

I dont think pot should be an issue but if its in the rules and you keep smoking, its on you.

My job doesnt care if i smoke thankfully

The 10 mill bonus was put into the contract before he got popped for the first time. Unless they went back after the fact and put in that wording, "we will give you this bonus but we have to add in this wording to the contract first".

I read that he'll have to forfeit $2.5 mil of his bonus money this season.

Washington stupid, stupid, stupid! What a mess this this turned into. Rowen and Martins laugh in. If it wasn't so sad , it would a huge laugh. I'm still good with who we have. IMO last years second round pick Mintor will get his shot and we all know if it wasn't for Dansby he would have played a lot last year. We picked up foote and we have some good players behind these two.

Good by Dwash see you when you grow up...maybe!
