CJ2K had no OTA's, no camp and no pre-season. He even missed the first game of the season. How's that working out??
Good point.

If he's getting QB pressures he's doing his job! Only issue I've had with him is he does not cover for run support...he's like too many DE's...they are thinking sacks sacks sacks and don't stop the run and leave the LB's on an island.
Hope BA and the team can coach him up.
LOL. Just like Chris Johnson, (and Abraham and Dansby the years befire) right.....
Three things:
1. I read earlier that Okafor is 2-4 weeks on a strained calf
2. That contract is incredible. Unless Keim somehow goes Mr Hyde on us at some point, that guy needs to be our GM until he decides to retire.
3. Freeney only really needs to be 75% of his old self to generate pressures and sacks with the way our secondary is playing - and if he is playing well enough too command double teams at least a several times a game, that opens up a ton of option for exotic blitzes from the CBs/Safeties/ILB positions. Deone and HB could be huge benefactors.
Watch
I saw a TV show on him 3 wks ago how he was training his ass off for the right fit, he looked in shape to me.
You know what's cool? These FA WANT to come here and prove themselves. For a penny on the dollar.
Wow, times have changed from overpaying a guy to come here to ride into the sunset.
Had 40 pressures last year though his sack numbers were down, he's mucho better than Woodley
And it's not a forty yard dash to the QB, it is not a 15 yard dash to the QB... Dwight can still light up a QB within 10 yards of his sights in my opinion
Great we just got older and slower. Assuming this means Okafor is done. He might be in shape but he isn't in game shape. No training camp, no practice.
With Woodley and Freeney out there moving as fast as the fastest Sloths we are going to be having some big issues.
Those of you that are excited. You are excited about what happened in the past. There is a reason he wasn't on a team at this point. So temper expectations if you can otherwise you will most likely be disappointed in the results
this signing says a lot to me-
-cards are a destination to the point of being a bandwagon team. how exactly does a guy whispering $8M/year go down to vet minimum, 90% discount, just to sign with the AZ cards???
-front office is playing for super bowl this year, and yet SIMULTANEOUSLY not sacrificing future. they could have overpaid for adrian peterson, chris johnson, dwight. that means they thought they were good enough without these guys and would only get them for right price. to get them at the right price just puts cards in position of riches.
-last year freeney played in a 3-4 scheme, played about 35 snaps per game (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/1517/dwight-freeney), stayed healthy for full year. in those snaps, he was 7th IN THE NFL in hurries last year (http://www.sportingcharts.com/nfl/stats/defensive-hurries/2014/). the people who had more played many more snaps. this year, i'd bet he will be nowhere near 35 snaps, it'll be more like 20ish. at that level of involvement, i can imagine him being super effective.
-I would imagine what dwight provides plays into strengths of cardinals. i would love to see cards opponent QB stats when they are under pressure. getting the sack itself may not even be the most value if pressured throws lead to picks for the #1 most ball-hawking team in NFL.
-you've just got another coach on the field at his age. doubling down further on professionalism and not letting success get to ones head. dwight isn't coming to be part of an 11-5 season where cards lose in divisionals. more guys with that mindset is great.
-in terms of utilization, we're talking about passing downs, third downs, etc. AZ is #9 in 3rd down defense in the league right now (https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/opponent-third-down-conversion-pct). the bet is to bring that to top 5 or higher. we're not talking about needing a huge lift here, this is a guy that can get you over the top.
-alex okafor out up to 6 weeks maybe (https://www.reddit.com/r/AZCardinals/comments/3ohd4r/rand_getlin_on_twitter_azcardinals_olb_alex/), so hopefully a stretch run of health...
-if i'm calais campbell... wow, i've been waiting for this.
I'm hoping he can have an impact like James Harrison did for the Steelers last year. looked like he was out of football, came in late, played 11 games and got 5.5 sacks at age 36. If Freeney can do that for us, it would be a very nice boost to an anemic pass-rush.
BA said on the radio that Freeney hasn't been signed and they were still talking. Weren't going to do anything until they heard back on Okafor's injury. Said they'd do something within 48 hours.
This was after the news broke of the signing and the terms of the contract. Why?

Certainly not admonishing the move. He's the best available pass rusher on this market. Just don't think he's going provide much more than a small increase to the pass rush.
