Listen to this link around the 1:40 mark. He was on with Bickley and Marotta around 12:40 today when he said this. (2 hrs ago)

(Me trying to quote him while listening)

Asked about status of Dwight Freeney's signing. Is it official yet?

We're in talks with Dwight right now and we are waiting on the results of Alex's MRI to determine how long he will be out. And, uh, we'll probably do something in the next 48 hours.

How much does he have in the tank?

Well, he was about top 5 in pressures, he only had 4 sacks, but he's still around the QB a lot but he gives you a lot of edge presence.

He's been an option for a while. Is he available to the Cards because of their current on-field success? Does he want to be a part of it?

Yeah, no doubt. In talking with him, even this summer, we had talked about bringing him in. Just one of those things where other guys came around and there was no opportunity. Now there is an opportunity.

Dwight Freeney will sign with Arizona Cardinals after passing a physical earlier today, per sources

Cardinals gave Dwight Freeney 1-year, $870,000 contract, same as Chris Johnson, now 2nd in NFL in rushing. Freeney also has sack incentives.

Sounds like it'll get done (if it hasn't yet). But the timing just struck me as odd.

LOL someone reading old news. BA already commented since then and talked about how they had been looking at him for awhile.

As I say with all of these signings: As big as an impact as Freeney could be (and I think it could single handledly change our pass rush) the bigger picture is whats really exciting.

Our CARDINALS are making moves like this? In season? Pushing all the chips to the middle?

Jesus if you switched the jerseys and locations, wouldnt be too much difference between the program in New England and the one we have here. Top to bottom.

Except we dont cheat :)

He's a street free agent coming in Week 6 with no TC.

I wouldnt say our D will be "lethal" He's not the panacea for our pass rush.

Can't be any worse that the Steelers bringing Harrison back last year, after 5 games (IIRC), when he was ready to retire...Now he's still playing and playing well.

The thing I like best is that Freeney had some success playing in a 3-4 so he should be a decent scheme fit.

Plus, we all know he is coming in for a pass-rusher role. He'll only be in on passing downs. No need to learn complex schemes. Someone in the huddle can just tell him to go get the QB and unleash him. He should be able to contribute faster than other positions.

Totally agree, and that really is the key point. Cards don't expect him to be an every down player.

Lol This is some variation of what my texts look like every Sunday. I think TJ has a reputation as a Kool Aid guy but he is heavy on the Darkside. Hes like little Anakin Skywalker :)

I'm like Anakin Skywalker at the beginning of Episode 3--very conflicted and having premonitions about horrific things that may happen in the future.

I think this was a moment of destiny.

This old-pro on defense.

Palmer old-pro on offense.

Sniffing the wind late in their years and smelling a chance for the ultimate autumn hunt.

They don't have to be a good as they once were, just as good as they were this one time; but they are running out of chances, this could be it...and they know it.

That my friends, is motivation. Buckle your seats and enjoy the ride!

Interesting. I guess you bring him in on 3rd and long and let him chase the QB around? I can't see him being much more than a situational pass rusher.

True, but we didn't have one of those "specialty" guys.

I REALLY think we needed one if we wanted to make a legitimate run.

*Visions of Ben-the-Rapist running around and converting three-straight 4th downs to get a game-wining TD...*

I wonder if he will be ready to play right away or will the wait a few games?

By past history, BA will make a guess at it - we've had guys sign on Wednesday and take game snaps that Sunday.
