Wow the new Orlando GM can give Steve Kerr a run for his money in the running for worst GM!

They could have got the #6 overall pick, cap relief, a good young 7'0 center, MarShon Brooks, plus more draft picks instead they get freaking Afflalo and crap late draft picks!

lols....perfect time to rebuild

Nash/Kobe/Who the Hell Cares/Gasol/Howard

looks like we'll have either the last or 2nd to last pick in the draft next season.

should make for an interesting season though with the elite teams going at it all year

Miami/LA finals

At first glance this seems like a bad trade for the Magic and the Lakers get the plum. Maybe there is more.

Isn't that pretty much how all trades with the Lakers end up looking?

Yes. I just do not understand what the Magic is thinking. I guess they plan to bottom out for a good draft pick.

and the Lakers didn't have to give ANYTHING up besides Bynum? What a joke.

I guess MVSteve is a happy camper. Considering that we'll be lucky to make the 8th spot, good for Steve! For what he has given us, I wish him the best!

Does that mean he won't be flirting with other guys' wives on APS commercials any more? ;)

Nash-Bryant-Artest-Gasol-Howard?!?!?!?!?

For real?!?!?

Damn! That's a guaranteed ring. Defensively, Nash is their only weakness. There's NO way MIA or anyone in the East can hang with that....

I don't see how you can possibly be surprised by this.. This is how the Lakers have been conducting trades for decades now.. And Stern allows it.. If they did give up a lot I would have been shocked.. NBA never changes expect for the stars the lakers get..

If the commissioner cared about the good of the game he would block this trade... but he won't.

Wow and they didn't even have to give up Gasol. I don't see how Stern could approve this and not approve the Chris Paul deal. Oh well at least MIA winning another title isn't guaranteed now.

and it looks like the picks are protected. which doesnt matter a whole lot....because every team in this deal was in the playoffs, and each team improved (besides the Magic).

its just a kick in the nuts as to how bad the magic ownership and management bent over for this one.

"hey magic, here are some picks for dwight....but the consensus is that they must be crap picks."

If Stern allows this trade, the rest of the league should vote him out.

What a ****ing joke

While I agree that this is a horrible trade, the commish can't veto a SEXOND trade to the lakers. He just can't unfortunately IMO.

Maybe the commissioner should give the super teams a bye and let the Washington Generals of the NBA play the regular season.

Happy for Nash (and Barbosa?)!

If Kobe accepts an increased role as spot-up shooter with Nash running the P&R with Gasol/ Howard, this team will be too good for anybody.

If Kobe insists on being top dog/ ball hog, the Lakers might lose a game or two.

I just hope they won't top the 96' Bulls record of 72-10!

This could be good Howard is going to out a few months and who is to say he will resign or even be available in the playoffs. The Lakers will still be good but only for 2 more years. Magic did get Iggy right?

I hope the next time Dwight takes a dump his surgically repaired spine slithers out his butt and makes him, literally, the most spineless player in history.

But seriously, I really hope that Dwight's back turds him into a shell of the player he was.

The NBA is working really really hard to make me despise it.

Good grief, the Magic get absolutely nothing of value out of this trade. This can't possibly have been the best that they could do for Howard. It's just like the Gasol trade. Other teams think, "Okay, our star big man wants out, should we identify the highest bidder or just give him to the Lakers? Ah, screw it, we'll just give him to the Lakers."

Sterm nixed the Paul trade because the league was running the Hornets and the deal was **** and he was 100% right in doing so. Not because it wasn't "fair". He can't nix this trade unless there is something in it the CBA does not allow.

Blame the other teams GM's and owners for endlessly filling the Lakers coffers. Don't know why I'm surprised, but I always am everytime these idiots trade gems for **** to the Lakers.

NBA makes me sick... Thankfully football is starting.
