Durable, grinding, pass pro, good hands ootbf , best we have had in AZ, well best we had that fans didn't run out of town too young.

Until the new stadium opened the Cards didn't have enough fans to walk, much less run, anybody out of town.

A refresher on Thomas Jones:

And Garrison Hearst:

Leland McElroy was so bad you can't even google him. As I've posted on ASFN before it was in reference to McElroy that I first heard someone use the term tiptoe bandit. Someone who tiptoes up to the line of scrimmage on Sunday and steals their paycheck on Monday.

Finally you have to wonder how the original Marcel Shipp, Ron Moore, managed to rush for 1,798 yards and 13 TDs in two seasons ('93,'94) with the Cards.

True - it would be nice if a premier RB fell into our lap, but James is still one of the better backs in the league. We need some upgrades defensively more than we need a new RB IMHO.

NO he's not. the best RB on our team absolutely, league wide he's not close to one of the better RB's.

Don't people notice guys like Ryan Grant coming out of nowhere for nearly 1000 yards at 5 yards a pop, a full yard more than any other RB they tried?

Good RB's are easy to find(except for us), great ones are unusual(thus my harping on not drafting AP) but guys like Edge at THIS point in his career are not tough to find. The one nice thing about Edge is he's been very durable here, he takes the pounding and keeps playing, but his lack of burst kills us.

I think if the Cardinals got an adequate replacement before they released him, even most of us who like Edge could live with it. But, I also think a whole lot of us would be really ticked if we create a huge hole, where we don't have one right now, and then repeat what we did last year at LT.

Exactly, I think a lot of the defenders of Edge are really just assuming that's what will happen, cut Edge, create a need at RB then fill it by draft or FA.

Oh well, it worked this year, Levi Brown NFL OROY?

What, he didn't win?

I guess it depends on what "better" means to you. Yeah, James is not a speedster and doesn't always cut how we'd like to see him, but he did finished #7 in the NFL with 1220 total rushing yards. He's a good receiver and pretty reliable blocker in pass coverage.

Keep in mind the rest of the entire Arizona Cardinals team had a total of 178 rushing yards. That's pathetic. Even if we draft a guy we should probably hang on to Edge.

I don't want to cut him without a viable replacement but the issue is if we draft a RB or sign one what will Edge want to do? He has never struck me as a guy who's going to want to mentor his replacement or be a role player.

At this point in his career he's essentially an average NFL RB. If we cut him you'd see a few teams going after him but no bidding war, he's on the downside and the whole NFL sees that, they have for a few years that's how we got him in the first place.
