He is a mammoth of a man. 6'4" 340lbs awfully athletic for a guy that big.

I was very impressed. Exactly what this team needed! A guy to stuff the run on first & second down!

I had him at the top of my 4th round board (just ahead of Ko Simpson who went 2 picks before us).

No doubt the Cards are going to take a lot of heat over this pick, because, although Watson is a Top 10 talent, he has a 6th round motor.

Nevertheless (picking up on a DG comment that he always evaluates a player on "what he can do" rather than what he can't do), there were moments when Watson was absolutely unstoppable (Check out Senior Bowl drills).

Problem is - there were times at Michigan when "there was nobody home."

We need clogging and rotational depth behind Clancy. With guys like Bunkley and Dvoracek off the boards, all the remaining guys - particularly the big ones - all seemed to have questions concerning motor, endurance, weight issues etc.

So if you're going to gamble on an Oshinowo, Wright, Jolly or Lewis, why not take a flyer on the 4th round on a guy with ability like Watson.

It will be a challenge for Dennis and his staff to make certain the light bulb goes on in Gabe's head (and stays on). If it does, welcome to "Ted Washington City."

If. I think this pick was worth it at #107 (even though it would have been a recipe for potential disaster earlier in the draft).

The thing is that Watson won't have to start. He'll be a situational player on this D. You can expect him to be in there on short yardage situations probably 15-20 times a game. He'll get up for that....

10 + 177 = 187

187/2 = 93.5

We got him at 107 so we still got a good deal.

We could still get Oshwinowo in the 6th round, which would be a silly value pick. I'm not sure that he's not better than John McCargo, who was a first-rounder.

I would not have been that disappointed if Watson was our 2nd rounder, but in the fourth that is a steal. Everyone wanted a big fatty at the DT spot so now we have the biggest in the draft ...

IMO, that is very wrong.

I have watched at least 10 Michigan games focusing on Watson and he has a First rd motor but UDFA type conditioning.

He is always hustling to the ball, sideline to sideline, or downfield. He is strong at the POA and can really disrupt the backfield in spurts, then his lack of conditioning comes into play.

He's in the pros now and will have go get in top condition. If he does, we got a blue chipper. In college you have a lot of studying, ... or some people have a lot of studying. Now he can focus on his job full time - make or break!!
