ESPN Ranks Cards' All-Time QBs

I'm certain many would drop Plummer. Still you can't dismiss his ability to turn defeats into victory. Why no earlier era players? The Cards had some talented QBs but they were never surrounded by enough talent to show it.

I would put clearly put Lomax in front of Plummer but still believe Plummer belongs though his comebacks where possible by his own doing of putting the team in that situation in the first place

I liked Plummer a lot. With Centers and Rob Moore we had a good defense too. McGinnis had his chance but he po'ed the wrong people at the wrong time.

I was a cowboys fan back when I lived in okieland. Every time we played St. Louis I'd be worried even with the star studded talent onboard at the time.

On a side note, without career ending injury Lomax replaces Hart.

I loved Plummers ability to thrive at the end of game pressure. But he had a LOT of crazy brain dead turnovers too.

I loved Jim Hart but he really was a bit below average QB. Had lots and lots of moxie though

Mine would change based on the criteria you may be using. As far as overall QB ability, leadership and what they meant to the team, I would rank them as follows:

Warner
Hart
Lomax
Palmer
Plummer

All I know is if Warner and Palmer had Hart's offensive line we'd be counting rings right now. Lomax had a good line as well but ran into confidence problems not to mention we were stuck with the worst kicker in history. He alone costs us at least 4 critical games. Hart didn't have more success not because of him but because our defenses were always average at best. As for Jake, those teams were fun. Cardiac Cards 2.0. If Bidwill didn't break them up after '98 we would have been competitive for years to come but then again we probably would not have Fitz, Warner, etc. The only knock on Jake is that he just wasn't a championship caliber QB. Sorry to say but it's true. Love him, still have my Plummer jersey, but just don't think he could lead anyone to a title.

1. Warner because he took this team to a Super Bowl. 2. Palmer because he helped produce the teams all time best single season record and took the team to an NFC championship. 3. Lomax because of his statistical prowess. 4. Hart because of his longevity.

I dont list Plummer because he was a dirtbag player who wasn't loyal to the team.

I agree Lomax should be much higher ... he played on some horrendous teams!

Yep listing Plummer any in the top 4 is a freaking joke.

Plummer led the team to one playoff victory and mostly was a below average QB.

Plummer was best in a hurry up offense. During his era it was only used in desperation at the end of games. It's too bad he wasn't around when Chip Kelly was trying to make that a standard offense. I'm still not sold it would work, but if anyone could have done it it would have been Plummer. I always felt he didn't get much help from the Cards' coaches. He had talent, but needed discipline.
