Because of the Patriots not making the Playoffs....they should be revamped. The NFL will lose millions of fans if they do this. I dont give a rats ass if we win a bad division at 8-8. Do you guys really think there is a huge difference from 10-6 to 8-8!!??? 2 plays can change that....missed FG's or dropped balls or fumbles.....You fans should be shot who have quit on this team. Yes we have played horribly but lets see what happens in the playoff's .. because I know if we win all your suckers will come running back...pathetic. Teams struggle...it is how you respond......Eagles looked horrible, Jets looked horrible....Broncos have looked bad.....We win our home Playoff game...anything can happen.

But if they only take the top teams to the playoffs....then for 70% of the league it will be boring.....what would be the point of watching if 70% of the teams dont have a chance to make it.

Nice rant Campos; too bad it doesnt make sense... How has this team responded the past 5 weeks? Notice a pattern.

Yes, ESPN is dumb for proposing this, but I think we all knew it was coming: I had this exact conversation with my father this morning. I told him that if Cards lose this topic would start making the rounds.

Its to be expected. Its funny how the topic only comes up when a darling media team misses out. Too bad.

As far as Cards are concerned, to insinuate Cards fans have quit on the team is a joke. If anything, the team has shown themselves to be a bunch of quitters today.

70% of the teams dont have a chance to make it in the current system so I am having trouble trying to figure out your point.

Plus isnt the point of the playoffs to have the best teams fight it out for the title. You want good teams and mediocre teams fighting it out. I think the playoffs would be far more interesting if you raise the competition level by having the top teams duke it out. Makes for a better product.

Also dissagree, there is a big difference between 8-8 and 10-6. One is an average team the other is a good team.

Detroit is the only team that came close to looking as bad as us today. Check the score of the Eagles and Jets games and compare them to ours today. I would have been thrilled with that type of effort.

We are getting killed. Dismiss it if you want but don't say those of us who don't should be shot.

Changing the playoffs would be idiotic. Not because the best teams shouldn't be in the playoffs and, thank God, the Cardinals finally made it. The reason is that they shouldn't change it is because this arguement very rarely a concern. Don't screw with it if it's succesful.

I agree, I can just see the reasoning behind it for the opponents of the current system.

Cards fans are the most loyal (they have to be) but when the team quits, how else do you expect their fans to react. I am sure all the experts will be saying the Cards don't deserve to be in the playoffs but we will all be cheering for them, but their performances of late have been unexceptable!!

It has been bad....but they dont know how to handle it...I think they dont want to give to much info...For some reason no one has shown up...so it is a coaching problem to me....It isn't like some players have come to play....The whole team bites...so maybe when the playoffs start they all turn it on...lets wait and see...and then villify.......

I agree with this for the most part, but if the NFL wanted to invoke a special substitution team rule, I would be hard pressed to argue it at the moment.

We are a playoff team in title only. :maninground:

Pats are eliminated ?

Can't find that documented anywhere ?

New England has to have Jacksonville beat Baltimore in Baltimore next week in order to make it. That's why people are talking like it's a foregone conclusion that New England won't make it.

The Cards didn't have anything to play for? They would probably still get creamed but do you think the Cards intensity level would have been higher the last 2 games had they been fighting for a playoff spot? The bottom line is the system is the way it is...every few years with the league being what it is (parity) you are going to get a 8-8 or 9-7 team into the playoffs...That being said, if the Cards lose these last 2 games in competitive games we aren't having this conversation...the Cards put together 3 out of 4 of the worst of the worst Cards type blowout losses...justifying those with an NFC West Title and a home playoff game is hard to do...

What the hell does that mean? A special veto once a year if they deem one of the division winners "unworthy" of a playoff spot?

By the time they decide....

to change the play-off system, the Cards will be BETTER so the point is moot!

I disagree. Detroit has been showing a lot more heart and class than the cards. Its not even a close comparison. I would be fining players if I was the owner (and it was legal)

Yep.

And it was said mostly in jest.. But if they wanted to invoke a rule like that on us now, I would be ok with it, this team doesn't deserve to be in the playoffs.

The last 3 weeks have been some of the most uninspired football I have seen.
It's like rewarding your kid for getting straight D's on his report card, when the rest of his class had F's. :p

Fortunately this scenario doesn't pop up very often, so I think the system is best left alone.

ESPN is just upset because they ranked the Cards as the worst franchise in terms of fan loyalty in the NFL at the beginning of the year. They can go pound sand with their playoff proposals.

ESPN can suck an egg. The NFL has the best system in sports. If you want to can this system then just have 2 conferences and forget about divisons. Top 6 teams go. Yeah, that would be exciting.

Did anybody ever think the AFC East would have 3 teams at 9-5 going into week 15? Every divisional game is almost like a playoff game. And who doesn't like a cinderella story? It's what gives fans hope and keeps fans watching.

We are invited to the dance whether they or anybody else likes it or not. If you are a Cardinal fan and don't believe we should be allowed into the playoffs, I have a suggestion....don't watch.

I like the idea of selecting the top teams... the playoffs will be really interesting then with higher level of competition.

And yes, there is a big difference between a 10-6 and an 8-8 team. Especially if that 8-8 team is in the worst division getting the record by virtue of beating the crappy teams in that division.

Actually it happens almost every year.

You just don't have the Car*inals involved very often.

The arguement comes around every two years or so, especially when 10 win teams miss the playoffs.

The system's fine though, and the run that the Steelers and Giants had reaffirms for me, that the playoff system has it right, even if some teams get cut out at the door.

The division rivalries are great and the reason they are great is because there are DIVISIONS. And the winner of each one goes to the PLAYOFFS.

Take this away and the rivalries mean nothing.

This is why the NBA created 8 divisions. They're trying to capture some the NFL's great regional rivalries.

Lot's of crappy 8-8 teams have gone to the playoffs and several 9-7 or 10-6 teams have won the Super Bowl. If you want to complain about the Cards being a crappy playoff team fine but even talking about changing the system is ********.
