Underrating other team's players? We're all guilty of that, and the above post just proves that point.

:D

Really though, Ariza did exactly what the dude said...he and Kobe combined to lock down AI after AI went off most of the game.

Ariza isn't a great 1 on 1 defender, but he is a disruptive force in team defense and simply kills passing lanes. He's very athletic and can show and recover well, and has good length (not like Tayshaun Prince, but good).

His primary attributes are defense and slashing.

Ummm for our needs right now....I would take Ariza in a second.

When only 3 of our players play good thats an average game for the Suns Donald. You should know Barbs and Raja usually are good for 20-30 between the 2 and sometimes alot more than that.

Since when is 9% body fat considered being 'fat' ? moron

when you weigh over 300 pounds, some people won't see the fact that you're 7 feet tall. calling shaq fat is like calling more than 90% of nfl players fat. he's not fat, maybe old and egocentric and have a really huge foot but not fat...

Don't know if it's been said but I think if we had Marion and Banks instead of Shaq in last night's game, it would've been a blowout by the Lakers.

I agree. Gasol/Odum would have put Amare on the bench in foul trouble.
Marion would've gotten 23pts/15 rebounds/2blks/3stls & *weed of lost by 20.

I don't know, you might be right, it's hard to tell. As a Laker fan though, I'm more afraid to face a team with Marion then with Shaq. In the playoffs the last 2 years, it just always seemed like the real back breaking shots against us came from Marion. I'm probably wrong on that, Suns fans would know better then me, but I'm happy to not have to face Marion 4 times a year anymore.

I belive Marion was the deciding factor in the 06 playoff series lost --- he got the rebounded miss from Nash and kicked it back out to T Thomas who then pump faked Kwame, then let it fly and connected. If Marion doesnt get that rebound over Odom, the Suns lose that game and subsequently the opening round series.

Suns esp. their perimeter D missed Marion the other night. Kobe wouldve had to work harder for his 40-41. But the point where its going to be very obvious is when the Suns play the Hornets (CP3) and Spurs (TParker) again. Nash will once again get annihilated with no help D from Marion.

The Lakers were more afraid to lose that game than we were. Check Kobe's minutes, and how about Nash's and the fact Nash didn't even play the first half of the 4th. This was a big game but not a season breaker for the Suns. You got to think it would have been worse for the lakers to lose while they are playing well and we would be trying a new lineup.

No, you didn't play average at best. Nash, Amare and Hill were lights out.

The Lakers defense was terrible, and rebounding was poor..that improves when Bynum and Ariza return.

Watch the game again. I did. Despite Nash, Amare and Hill our spacing was horrible, our offensive and defensive rotation was horrible. Guys were confused on offense several times down the court with Shaq out there. Our erratic substitution patters to keep down Shaq minutes in the first half made things worse. Guys didn't know if they were coming or going. It made it more confusing for the guys in the first half and it showed.

Neither team played defense. However, once Shaq gels with the team and guys know where they are suppose to be or what they are suppose to do on offense with the big guy out there, that should improve. Nash said in his post game that they really only had 2 full practices with Shaq.

So though we were not bad, we looked so confused on offense at times. Didn't see that from the Lakers with their well honed triangle system. You can almost fit anybody in there with that system. D'Antoni is going to have to change things up for us. Having Shaq changes everything. I was encourage by what we saw when Shaq's minutes were less choppy in the 2nd half.

The Suns are going to have to "learn" how to play with him out there. It's going to take some time. The bad news is that all of the West is separated by a few games. The longer it takes the worse it is for the Suns. The good news is that this Suns team at the end of the season will not be the same Suns team that the Lakers just played.
