I DO trust you, I just think you are mistaken in this case.

I dont remember it and it's not in the box score, you sure you aren't thinking of a different game?

EaglesDerrick Witherspoon 95 yard kickoff return (Gary Anderson kick)

That must have been some onside kick that the kick returner caught and returned 95yrds

i'm telling you, that box score is wrong.

It matches my memory of the game, and I didn't write the box score.

Produce evidence sir! :)

PS Apparently the NY Times is wrong too.

Cheese, I know you well enough to not contradict you unless I am 100% sure I'm right brotha.

Without a doubt 31-28 winner against the Cowboy's in St.L in 1975. Dallas tied it at 28 with less than 1 min to go. They had kicked away from Metcalf all day (Terry that is) and they kicked it deep. He returned the ball 70 yards and set Bakken up for the game winner as time ran out.

A very close 2nd? 10/5/58. My first Cardinals' game with my Dad at a windy cold Comiskey Park. Cards a 37-10 winner. Bobby Joe Conrad, John David Crow, Ollie Mattson........ Hard to believe that was 52 years ago.

that wasn't an onside kick. it was just a normal kick return for a TD. think about it. if it was an onside kick and they kicked from the 30 yard line, there's no way he could possibly return it 95 yards.

our surprise onside came earlier in the game.

I am misunderstanding what you are saying then, I thought you were saying the 95yarder didn't happen at the end of the game. Because you said "the kickoff return happened earlier in the game."

There was only one kick return for a TD that day.

the onside kick returned for a touchdown happened earilier in the game.

the kickoff return for a touchdown happened at the end.

yup... either that or they returned it to the four yard line and Waters took it on on the next play.
So they tried a surprise onside up 22-13 w/ 11 mins left in the 4th and it was returned to the 4yrd line?

it doesn't match your memory of the game. a 95 yard onside kick return is literally impossible.

Yes it does.

I said;

We scored then the eagles ran the ensuing kickoff back for a touchdown (the 95 yarder)

Then the Eagles did an onside kick, recovered it and ran that back for a touchdown too but it was disallowed because you cant advance an onside kick. They just got the ball, and drove down and got a field goal.

We are talking about 2 different onside kicks.

PS the karate kick was for TJ, not you. :)

I had the chunk of turf from after the Chargers game in 1998 growing in a flower put for about 4yrs. I remember the security guys flipping out becuase they had the new surface in for the Fiesta Bowl and people were ripping it up.

That's awesome.

OK since we're using all this bandwidth to discuss one play how about your favorite ARIZONA Cardinal play of all time.

For me its a toss up between Dansby's play in OT vs Green Bay and the Josh McCown pass to Nate Poole. Both of those because of the circumstances surrounding the event.

Was in Vegas with LVG watching the game at a Casino for Green Bay. Great time. Place was loaded with Packer fans but not as bad as it would have been were it not for 2008. There were a couple of loud mouths but they shut up as soon as they saw how big LVG was. :D

And for the Minnesota game I heard there were going to be 1000s of Vikings fans at the game so I loaded up the family at the last minute and drove to Phoenix to go to the game. Fantastic Christmas present. And you have to remember that win came after some of the most dismal seasons in Arizona Cardinal history.

The Cowboys overtime win a couple years ago. Sacking Romo, forcing a punt, blocking the punt and running in the TD in overtime.

I have 3 reasons..

First, my seats are on the 10 yard line and I watched all of those plays from an almost perfect angle, up close.

Second, the Cowboys fans in our area were being incredibly obnoxious, incredibly, as we had done a pretty good job of blowing a lead to put it into overtime.

Finally, it was almost the antithesis of that Monday night meltdown game... same feeling of opposing fans gearing up and being obnoxious... only this time, WE pulled off the big play and won the game at the end.

It was such an amazingly satisfying feeling of relief at the end of that game.

Hightower busting that long run on the first play of the game against New Orleans was pretty sweet, but the rest of that game kinda ruined it.

I guess I would say Jacke's FG to beat San Diego and put us in the playoffs is tied with the Dansby TD in the Packer game.

How about the game at Philadelphia where Jake hit Martay Jenkins with 7 seconds left for a 30 or so yard TD in 2001?

Definitely Sept 7 1997 win over the cowboys. Sat in my friend's season tickets in the lower level under the upper level in the shade. watched cowgirls fans act like fools and run their mouths for most of the game, and unleashed hell on them when we won. ran on the field, somewhere I still have a chunk of grass I pulled off the field. Watched the goalpost float down Mill Ave.

And breaking his leg also on the blocked punt...added to the thrill :D

I still remember Pasch's words..."Cards win...how bout them Cardinals"

I know you said no playoff wins but I can't help it. I was at home game when we beat the Eagles in the NFC Championship and I've NEVER experienced anything like that. Not a memory I'll ever forget!

If it has to be a non-playoff game though then I say Dallas from a couple years ago when we blocked the punt in the endzone to win the game. Went from biting my nails to screaming like a crazy person! Plus it always fun to make fun of Cowboys fans and just show more proof that this is now, and forever will be, CARDINAL TERRITORY!
