Strand was interesting.
I don't know about this guy. Who talks like that? Seemed very cartoonish and cheesey to me. At least the actor was able to get through those lines without laughing.

read World War Z. It's awesome and is pretty much all of the above.
The movie, while good was NOTHING like the book. The book could have made for a great TV series.
Friend of mine brought up some good points on the show, made me realize I am being too picky. These people know nothing and we know everything so it is natural to feel like they are simply stupid.
He made the hershel comparison to travis too.
These people are all going to break and turn just like every character in TWD has. I just need to be patient.
With the cobalt orders in effect and the military planned to evac and kill everyone in sight on the way out at 9am, the next episode mights be INSANE.
Or, theyll save it for next year. We will see.
Hey, I knew you killed Zombies by shooting them in the head 30 years ago. Why doesn't anybody in this show just intuitively know that?
Except nobody is complaining about their lack of knowledge about the zombies or the future. If that was the case your friend would have a point.
If you read through this thread and many forums out there, the biggest complaint is the lack of common sense and shear stupidity of the characters in general. You don't have to know about zombies or the future to make some common sense decisions that just about anybody would make. It's like the writers started with a baseline IQ of a toddler's shoe size when they started.
Hard to like a character who tortures a soldier for really almost nothing. Especially when that guy was actually looking out for your daughter and put his neck on the line doing it.
I hope Salazar gets the gruesome non-heroic death he deserves.
At the same time, you would think with the feelings he has for the girl, he would have volunteered the information to her so she could prepare her family without even getting to the point of the torture scene.
IE: Neighbor you have known for years is eating your dog in your house. My friend said what if I came over and saw you eating your dog? I still think you are sick, I still think you are human and something is wrong. I'll probably still try to talk to you and help you until you come at me and try to bite me.
My point was dude if someones in my house eating a dog, im grabbing a weapon and yelling at them. His point was simply everyone is not that way, a lot of people go into shock in extreme situations vs getting violent/defensive.
I am sorry, if you neighbor stood up and looked like the walking dead, I don't care who it was....you wouldn't calmly let the dude approach you with pieces of your dog dripping from his mouth. Keep in mind just prior to that you already witnessed a dude that should be dead keeping coming for you. There is knowledge that something is going around (possibly virus).
Plus the other things are just too stupid. Said sick people are out there coming after people (again...doesn't matter why), you leave doors wide open, you walk around outside like there is nothing going on, you drive around with windows open, soldiers who are clearly in the know....take the words of a resident about who is in the house or buried in the yard. The list is a mile wide.
I don't have a problem with characters lacking knowledge of zombies but they are doing things that lack any kind of common sense regardless if you know what a zombie is.
i didn't realize his name was strand. hes the most intriguing character so far so he can talk however he wants

My hope is that this scene was not just a lazy plot coupon, but used to show some people will not gradually decay into barbarity. Some will lose all humanity with one or two pushes.
Remember the gang Daryl took up with for a couple of episodes in TWD? The leader basically said this was the perfect world because it provided "opportunities" for a certain type of person that didn't exist before.
A soldier is taken hostage by a barber and a girl? Give me a break.

I really don't have mixed feelings. Most of the season (if you can call it that being only 6 episodes) has basically sucked. It's completely failed to deliver what was advertised. You see the breakdown of society for a partial part of an episode, followed by a bunch of bad bad bad writing and crappy characters.
Episode 4 was the first likeable episode and last nights episodes was decent. I am hoping for an epic finale.
Even if that is somehow delivered......Season ".5" is a disappointment.
Article really hits the nail on the head with many of the gripes we've had in the thread.

Skipping over several weeks as society collapsed was an awful narrative choice. I don't know if it was budget or a lack of creativity but given how tedious and uneventful the following episodes were its a baffling choice.
