Do you ever stop crying Mitch?

Even the OP knew I was joking around.

Why dont you go back to writing your 30th thread of the day on the same subject as the last 300 and let the mods police the board?

Your way of joking is preying and it's below the belt. The OP acted out of embarrassment...he doesn't know your history here. We do. You add virutally nothing to this board but negativity and insidious self-righteousness. You are a classic hit and runner...but your act has worn way too thin here. It's transparent.

You are the biggest joke this board has to offer. The only people who even read your BS are those too bored with the offseason and the newbies who dont know much about the game or team.

This really shouldn't constitute as an insult because I genuinely mean it, but my wife knows 10X's more than you about football and both of my toddlers have better manners.

I think Mitch's post can be helpful at times. Alot of what Mitch says is pretty helpfull and I'm not a newbie (well post wise I am) but I have been coming here to see what other people have to say for years. Mitch is usually a good poster.

On the other hand, I don't see how Cardfanmd said anything bad at all. For years we had people make jokes on us that players only came here to get paid and nothing else, we will always be losers, etc. It was the honest truth and we could either laugh it off or get mad. The OP decided to laugh it off because any NFL fan thinks of the Bengals in the same light that Cardsfanmd does...They are all "thugs" lol. I saw nothing wrong with the post Cardsfanmd made.

Back on subject, Rod Hood is a good corner but not great. Just like how we said Edge could always get us 3 yards when we need it but also only 3 yards when we needed more is really the same thing in my opinion when it comes to Rod. Usually pretty safe when its thrown his way when there is nothing on the line but it feels like when its a huge play for the other team, the ball was usually thrown in Rod's way and the outcome usually went the opposing teams way.

So many off topic posts... here's the answer to the original request to fill somebody in about Rod Hood

Hood attended Carver High School in Columbus, Georgia and was a letterman in football, basketball, and track. In track, his 4x100 relay team went to the state finals, and he helped lead the basketball team to the state finals.

Hood played college football at Auburn University. As a cornerback, he finished his career with five interceptions and 106 tackles. He was also a star return specialist, returning 51 punts for 571 yards (11.2 yards per punt return) and averaged 19.9 yards on kick returns.

Hood signed as an undrafted free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2003. Following an injury to starter Lito Sheppard, Hood worked his way into the starting lineup in 2005 where he had 3 interceptions and 41 tackles

Following the 2006 season, Hood left the Eagles in free agency and signed with the Arizona Cardinals where he is the starting cornerback. In the 2007 season, Hood had his best season with 5 interceptions and 2 of them were returned for touchdowns.
Hood was released by the Cardinals on April 28, 2009.

Profootballprospectus has a stat called success rate. Meaning how may times a QB makes a succesfull pass against a DB versus how many times he doesnt. Hood was in the top 5 in that category in 2007 and 2008, meaning QB's were not very succesfull against him. The problem though is that the few times a QB does have success against Hood its usually a big play.

Any team should be giddy to have him as a starting CB if they dont already have one.

Maybe this will sum it up; opponents targeted Hood last season. To make it worse, he was playing opposite a rookie. I think having a rookie like DRC showed where Hood was in terms of talent. Couple that with McFadden coming in as a starter without having to compete in camp and that should tell how impressed Whiz and staff were with him. It's been suggested that he would make a solid nickelback, but I don't think the coaches felt that way. I think they just saw him as a liability on the field. They want players to play their position the way they supposed to. They don't want mediocrity. I don't agree that he was a cap casualty. This doesn't mean that I don't appreciate what he did here, because he was better than the garbage we had before. I just don't see him sticking to a championship caliber team and that's what is happening here.

He's going to be a very solid #2 or a great #3 corner if you sign him. I'm not sure what the Bengals depth at CB is, so he might even be your #1 where he will most likely do a nice job. He doesn't have good speed, so he might run into some matchup problems because of this but other than that he's a very nice corner to have on your team. As it has been said, he was a cap casualty and that is really the only reason he was cut. Compared to 2007 he had a very down year last season, but I would take him back as our #2 or 3 corner in a heartbeat as would a lot of fans.

Holy crap, how did I miss the powder keg on the latter part of the thread?

Hood is solid, but far from a ball hawk.

Not sure how accurate that stat is... but I don't remember QB's having any issues with either of our starting corners until DRC started. Thank God for DRC and, hopefully, now McFadden. Any team is welcome to have both Hood and Green as their starters and be giddy about it.
