Isn't he visiting them tomorrow?

It seems all this is a news overdose on Cialis. Wait until the date shows up, jeez.

We all know how Whiz is on guys needing to prove theirselves. Maybe Whiz conveyed this message to Foote who thought he was just going to steop into a starter's position. Now he realizes he needs to win a starting position and didn't want to do that. there are many reasons why this could not get done with Foote. It's not like we missed out sigining an all pro LB. Even by our own admission we knew Foote is gap stop at best.

Agreed.

I think Foote didn't want to "compete" for a position, I think he wanted to be given a starting position.

If he doesn't sign here, I will not be upset in the least.

He is a dime a dozen veteran ILB.

Larry Foote
Akin Ayodele
Andra Davis

any one of the three could come in a fill the role the Cardinals are looking for.

It is Porter that I worry about. I think he would be a good fit here, and there are no other OLB FA prospects out there.

If he signs with the Steelers then you are quite wrong, because there isn't a chance in Hades he'll be the starter, barring injury.

Eh, so I am wrong. Who cares.

Either play here or play for the Steelers. No big whoop over a guy who is a half a step above Reggie Walker anyway.

From this morning's Pittsburg Examiner newpaper:

As reported Saturday in Examiner.com, Larry Foote was indeed in Pittsburgh on Sunday, and now according to the same source that said the Steelers were going to bring in Will Allen and had an interest in Hank Fraley, that he won't be going anywhere soon.

That's because Examiner.com has been told Foote is planning on signing with the team as early as Monday morning and may already have inked out the deal, reported to be near $3 million per year. No exact details of the potential contract were given, but it is said to be a long term deal.

The Post Gazette first reported Foote might be visiting on Friday.

Count me as one of the people that would be disappointed if Foote doesnt sign with us. Right now, Foote is the best in a very thin market for talented ILBs and he knows our system back and forth. I imagine the transition for him would be seamless.

If he does not sign, there is a drop off from him to Ayodele and A. Davis. I'd say go after Kirk Morrison of the Raiders but it sounds like we arent going to go that direction. Regardless if we pick up an ILB in the 1st round or not, Im concerned about depth at this position moreso than anywhere else. We could be one injury away from seeing Highsmith or Walker as the starter. Plus this puts added pressure to draft for need and not BPA in the 1st round.

File This Away For Another Day...

Lot's of speculation. Here's what we know.

Foote came into the Valley and said he "begged" the Cardinal FO to sign him.

He left the Valley without a contract.

We're getting tweets. uncorroborated reports etc. that he's either signed or is about to sign with the Steelers (but AZ is not totally out of the picture).

That's what we know.

Assuming that reports are true and he signs with Pittsburgh, we can learn from the experience; namely:

If a dude (a) comes here, (b) says he wants to be here and (c) leaves here without a contract ---(d) he's not going to be here.

We should all file that in our future BS detectors.

I wanted Foote to sign, but I won't lose any sleep if he doesn't. Personally, I'd rather have Porter because he's a LB who can rush the QB which is what we really need, IMO.

I am trying not to bash graves, but at that reasonable of a price it is utterly ridiculous that Graves let him leave without a contract offer. Seriously, that was an extremely reasonable price for a LB with 100 tackles who fit the system, still farily young, and able to bridge the gap until younger talent fully develops.

I am pretty pissed right now...

What don't you get about the obvious fact that the team didn't want him? Namely Whiz IMO. He's running he show.

Ida no about that... he is the best available and would allow us not to have to draft for need, now I think we do...

i'd rather have Porter too but I have very little faith that's going to happen here.

That was a bush league contract he signed. To me it's glaringly obvious that we didn't want him. Should be to anyone. IMO.

Rather interesting isn't it. Fan doesn't like a FO move then RG sucks donkey balls. Fan likes the FO move and WHIS RULES the Universe.

IYHO but obviously not our FO's point of view. We have heard about a potential trade just failing to happen for a LB when FA first started. That would indicate the Cards had someone they liked more then Foote. We still see teams cutting players (really has slowed to a trickle at this point) and we all know the FO is working on all kinds of trades. Joeshmo called that before FA started.
