Here is my major concern about this game:

When the Bears played Seattle, Seattle had no running game begin without Alexander. That forced Hasselback to throw the ball more. When Seattle got behind, that forced Seattle to throw the ball even more. This is when Hasselback, a pretty NFL QB, made lots of mistakes.

I can see the same thing happening to Leinart in his second start.

The only things that provides hope for the Cards is that this game in Phx. That gives them a shot. But it is not much of one.

i accutally belive that the cardinals are going to pull this off. i belive the offensive line is going to do a good job. this is national tv everyone. believe me the cardinals are not going to embrasses themselves on national television. boldin and james are going to have big games on monday night. the cardinals te tandom of bergen and pope are going to see more ball coming their way. hopefully the cardinals are going to use wakefield more in their offense. he would be like haveing an extra tackle in for the running game and pass protection. i am sure wakefield can hold a linebacker or a blitzing saftey long enough for leinart to get rid of the ball. wakefield will also help out on the running plays just like dunn did in kansas city.

Regarding Wakefield he was REALLY crushing guys on blocks when he was in there and I really think at some key point in a game this year we're going to line him up, fake the handoff and release him and he'll be WIDE open. I can only hope he catches the ball. Pope on the other hand really is not a good blocker exactly what all the scouting reports said he's too upright so the defender always gets the leverage and wins the confrontation.

Is everything
I seem to remember getting our doors blown in by Atlanta, getting a pretty good beating at the hands of Seattle this year and last year getting the snot kickedout of us by the Giants (playoff team), the Seahags 2X, the Cowboys (9-7), while only playing Carolina, Washington and Jax tough - so that's 6 blowouts to the "good teams" while only playing tough - and mind you, not winnign a single game - 3 "good teams".

Umm... all those losses you quote (except Seattle 1X) were on the road. The perception that we are a more competitive team at home seems valid.

Both Chicago papers see Monday's game as nothing more then a scrimage. The Tribune has printed numerous articles of late outlining how they expect the team to go undefeated and "erase" the memory of the 1972 Dolphins.

FF:

Those who don't remember past mistakes are doomed to repeat them, right? The Chicago and national press were running similar stories about the '85 Bears, until Dan Marino's Dolphins put 'em down 38-24 in Miami. Bears fans ought to be grateful that the Fins lost to the Patriots in that year's AFC championship, or they would've seen that same offense again in the Super Bowl (and might not have had their lone Super Bowl win to cherish).

I don't think that just because the papers here are telling us to buy Super Bowl tickets the Bears themselves think that as well.

Your CRAZY! If I was betting I would bet against the cards all day long at 10.5

Leinart has never faced anything like hes getting ready to face on Monday. Dont even try and say preseason either. We couldnt score more than 14 and 10 against the Rams n Seahawks and that was with Fitz. We will be lucky to score 10 in this contest. Our D is going to be wore down and we are going to get trounced.

Shane, you were talking up the Chiefs D last week after they blanked SF. Sorry if I don't join you on the ledge.

Yeah, the Bears D is better than the Chiefs, but the Chiefs secondary is good and they've only allowed 2 passing TDs this season, both off of Leinart's hands and BJ dropped a third.

You also didn't think we'd score 10 against the Chiefs.

I wouldn't even comment other than the fact that I'd seen this post before and expect to see it a lot more this season.

"The Raiders? Man, Randy Moss is going to have a field day with our DBs. He'll have 4 TDs and we get beat by 40."

"The Packers? Oh, we won't get anywhere near the endzone because Lambeau has a minefield that only Favre can detonate. Our only chance is Favre's senility causes him to detonate the mines when they have the ball, or else we get beat by 30."

Et cetera, et cetera.

my thinking of having wakefield in on the double te formation more is that he will give an extra offensive lineman in for running plays and pass protection. that will also set up the playaction more if other defenses see that wakefield in to play. he could sale the run a little better. that will at least let the recievers get that extra step they need to separate themselves from the defender.

D-D:

Those are both games that the Cardinals are capable of winning, regardless of who's behind center. Neither the Raiders or Packers has a particularly intimidating defense or effective offense. And they lost to the 49ers and Rams respectively last Sunday, both teams with which the Cards are clearly competitive.

I don't think it's unrealistic to think the Cards are less likely to beat the unbeaten Bears, with the league's top-ranked offense and defense, than they are Green Bay and Oakland. I'll be surprised if you see the kind of comments you've posted, in advance of those games.

Of course, the Cards are playing both games on the road... ;)

I think this one ends up being a trap game for these Bears. Afterwards they will realize all their nitwit press and fans writing this off as a foregone conclusion, and idiots like Theisman talking about 16-0, had the effect of walking them into an ambush. Far from the welcoming arms of the Bears home crowd they are expecting, they end up realizing its a real bad thing to have your fans at Cardinals stadium if you aren't destroying the Cards. Nothing ends up the way it was scripted.

This stuff is just getting out of hand. I invited my ex girlfriend's 15 year old son to come over Monday night to watch the game with me and he says.

"Ok. I have the Bears defense on my fantasy team and it will be fun to watch them smash Leinart."

I used to change his diapers and now he's trash talking the cards?

Damn kids these days.
