How about the Raptors for T.J. Warren? Do a sign and trade for VanVleet. They are supposedly done with Norman Powell...I could see Warren as being the key to their bench scoring, and a good fit at small forward in lineups where they use Anunoby as a small ball 4.

The issue with trading with the Raptors is their salary cap issues, or Delon Wright could be another target.

Powell has 4 years left on his contract.

Pretty demoralizing when you see that Elfrid Payton is third on that list. I'm still in the "Kemba Walker if you go big/Fred VanVleet if you go conservative" camp.

And Payton looks like one of the more attractive PG candidates on the list but the Suns seem to have moved on.

Not if the Raptors intend to match VanVleet otherwise; he's a restricted free agent. Personally, I'm a fan of keeping Warren because I agree he doesn't have a ton of trade value and he's a really good scorer. Just playing out the exercise presented here. :)

I agree.

I'm still trying to figure out why a lot of posters are down on Warren. He is a solid bench player who scores 20 points and 5 rebounds on a reasonable contract. I hope the Suns do not trade him away for a below average point guard.

I want the suns to hold out for a good pg and I don't care if it takes the next offseason to do it. We can't act like we have to fix EVERYTHING right now because even if we did where does it get us besides maybe a first round exit.

So what's the rush?

I think it may be a product of having so many players cause issues in the past from reduced roles. If Warren feels like he's being marginalized by a rookie and a second year player, it could conceivably cause issues. After Bledsoe, Dragic, Thomas, Morris, Morris, Knight, etc...it's hard to be optimistic about the mindset of a young player getting a significantly reduced role after coming off a season where he scored almost 20 ppg and played 33 mpg. :)

That being said, Warren has shown little to no signs of discontent, he's locked into a long-term deal, and there should still be plenty of minutes to go around.

Warren doesn't strike me as a player that is going to throw a fuss coming off the bench. If the Suns don't use him, then they should find a trade but the season hasn't even started. Warren might even be able to play PF if given half a chance. Igor may have different ideas how to use him.

It seems you were ready to trade Warren a few minutes ago. :D

I'm not against trading Warren but I want something useful in return.

Count me in at taking a shot at Fred Van Fleet. He plays D, shoots well from 3 (.414), provides energy, and is a great leader on the floor. The question I have is how much do we have to offer to make sure Toronto doesn't match, but not overpay for him?

Man, I keep trying to talk myself into Walker, but knowing the kind of extension it will require really gives me cold feet. It feels like all the top tier free agents will all be overpaid, so I'd prefer to see what we have before making any major moves.

At this point, we have lots of young talent that needs time to grow, and time to figure each other out. Throwing 14 mil at Smart, or giving up assets to get Kemba and pay him 20 mil plus seems really dumb in the long term.

Like many of you, it's been a tough 7 years of being Suns fans, but I just don't see us getting to where we want to be by overpaying FA or trading (and overpaying) for vets.

There is enough wing minutes for the both of them plus the could play a few minutes here and there at PF (more Jackson than Bridges).

As @pokerface stated, Warren should be the odd man out since his lone strength is mid-range scoring. Use him as a trade chip for a team that could use another scorer.

Bridges can get some SG minutes too, especially if Ayton ends up being able to score in the low post and pass out of double teams. MB can't create his own shot, but he could play a 2 for stretches when they run offense through Ayton in the post.

You'll note he's getting a good amount of minutes at power forward in my roster example I put together earlier in this thread. :)

Nothing, we're not going to trade for him, he makes too much money. We'll wait until he's waived.

If the Suns want to wait until July 15th and hope no one else trades for him.

Over the next two weeks, therefore, expect the Clippers to shop Milos, hard. There are teams out there who could use a sweet-shooting and passing backup point guard or stop-gap starter, and they won’t have to pay a premium to obtain Teo. If the Clippers can’t find a new home for him by that July 15 deadline, however, he probably will be waived. Eating $2.1 million isn’t bad, and the Clippers desperately need to clear room at the guard positions to make way for new draftees Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jerome Robinson.

I'd be surprised if anyone traded for him with plans of keeping him. There might be a few teams who are interested in the salary relief he'd offer but they would need to send the Clippers salary in return to make it work, which the Clippers don't want. So someone would need to offer the Clippers a player they'd want to keep who makes less money for them to trade him rather than waive him. Why give up value when you know they'll waive him in 2 weeks? Pitch him then and see if he'll join your team. I know trading for him guarantees you'll get him but how much would most teams give up for that guarantee? A matching salary would probably be a rookie scale player. I wouldn't be happy if McD traded Chriss for him rather than waiting to try to sign him. That's be giving Chriss away, essentially, and having no faith in our team's ability to pitch him when he'd be available.

I think this is sort of like the Suns when they had Greg Monroe. No one was trading anything for him because they knew we'd waive him eventually, so why give up value? Teams interested in him as a player can wait for him to be waived and then make a pitch. There's no use paying him more money than you may need to and also losing an asset in the process to sort of skip the negotiations of trying to sign him as a free agent. Nobody is moving a pick for him, that's almost a guarantee.

I might be ok offering Daniels but would the Clippers even be interested in him? We don't really need him now that we have Bridges so it wouldn't be that much of a loss. They shed salary, Daniels is making $2.5 million this year, so they pay about the same money anyways and we don't lose an extra roster space by swapping them. That's the most I'd be ok doing. Try using Igor to pitch him when he's a free agent. The only reason not to wait is knowing he'd rather sign elsewhere and wouldn't consider signing with us. In that scenario though, why go after a guy who doesn't want to be here?

It’s about balancing the roster. Warren is a tradeable asset but a redundant piece.

I wad thinking about a 2nd round pick(s) since the Clippers are not going to keep him.

Injuries always have a way of rearing their head although it's not something we like to talk about.

If the Suns trade Warren they should get something near equal value in return. Something equivalent to a mid first round draft pick or a player of similar value.
