Whether it would have affected the outcome is debatable, but the Titans won by only 1 point. That field goal would have had the Chiefs win by 2.

I was more making the point about Reid or Smith not being the goat as they were not responsible for the miss... Arians put blame on the players for poor execution. Basically I was being sarcastic about how Cards fans have seen this movie before.
Didn't watch the game however from watching the highlights and looking at the stats, it appears to me that one losing Kelce put a big dent into the Chiefs offense, 2. A lot of dropped passes by KC receivers in the second half. 3. Reid seem to abandon the run game entirely in the second half. Why, when you needed 9 yds to get the first down and you have almost 3 minutes left in the game why do you call a play that goes 20-25 yds down field instead of something that is 10-15 yds. with several options to get the first down? You can still run a deep route to clear out an area in order to get the first down. This was a situation where they missed Kelce big time.

And Kareem Hunt ran for 17 yards. Guess he really blows.

Bad coaching on Reid’s part. He was doing great until Reid took the ball out of his hands.

33 passing yards on 10 attempts is just unacceptable no matter how you spin it, though.

If you believe that, then that would mean Smith decided to throw the ball deep in the huddle. It's just not the way plays work. It's obvious to me the play would have been to pass it to the sticks and get the first down So either those players were covered, fell down, or ran the wrong route. So smith saw an open man and threw it to him, if that was a dependable receiver (Fitz), well lets just say it was a catchable ball.

Alex Smith threw for 33 yards in the 2nd half yesterday.

Let’s not forget.

Alex Smith threw for 33 yards in the 2nd half yesterday.

I didn’t watch the entire 2nd half, but I did see at least 3 dropped 3rd down passes that would have been 1st downs & extended drives. They were perfectly thrown balls. Those 3 passes would have created 50+ yards of passing & with extended drives would have added another 100+ yards in passing. QB’s cannot always be held accountable for poor offensive halves.

So both the QB FA market and draft class are going to be crap shoots. I don’t think ARZ is going to look at trade route unless Alex Smith can be had on the cheap.

If Smith ends up getting cut it can’t be a good thing for ARZ because he would want a multi year deal for at least the going rate of $20M+.

Conventional wisdom is that if ARZ does sign a Tyrod Taylor or Case Keenum they would have upgraded the OL and WR position. Taylor’s season as a whole was pretty good, he had a subpar game against a really good JAX team that ironically we beat a few weeks ago with Gabbert as our QB.

I have no interest in Alex Smith. I've always said he was my favorite 49ers QB - never good enough to win for them, but just good enough for them to keep him as the starter.

Who says !

Taylor's performance today was not an exception, it's the norm and a healthy Bradford or Smith are way better options than Keenan.

I cannot even believe Cutlers name in mentioned. K Cousins is not as good as D Stanton. Draft a QB and then play it out. A bad QB will get this new head coach fired in 4 yeary

My god. The names people attach themselves to. Case Keenum!? He has had exactly one good season and been passed around like a blunt at a frat house. No thanks.

Alex Smith?! :lmao: That dude is 14 years in and still captain checkdown.

I would rather watch three rookie QBs duke it out than any of these stiffs.

Keenum's one good year is still more than any Cards QB, not named Palmer, this decade.

Absolutely correct. Tyrod Taylor is flat out awful. I’m originally from NYS, so most of my family are Bill fans. I’m not sure if there’s a WORSE starting NFL QB than Taylor. I literally would keep Gabbert & Stanton over Taylor.

I'm not even that high on Cousins. I think he can rack up yards and stats but hasn't been able to take his team over the hump. Redskins know this too and that's the reason they are hesitating to give him a big-money long-term contract. I haven't seen every game from Cousins, but he seems to crumble under pressure. He's quite good at beating the blitz and getting the ball out quickly. But he won't make something out of nothing, which is usually a sign of greatness. That said, if our new HC has a plan in place to develop a great scheme around Cousins, I'm all for it. Fix the OL and let David Johnson do his thing, keep improving our stingy defense, then I see Cousins being a long-term solution for us.
