The secret is coming out. NBA players don't want to play in Utah. The Jazz tried for every free agent but Magic Johnson and came up empty. It's tough recruiting there for religious and racial reasons. So, big surprise, the roster is filled with international players, like Carlos Arroyo, Andrei Kirilenko, Aleksandar Pavlovic, Raul Lopez and Greg Ostertag. All see confused when listening to Sloan. But he'll get his message across.

Does any of it have to do with the Jazz "good enough . . . is good enough" history?

Put on a decent show at home and squeak into the playoffs.

In a town where they have the sports market to themselves, that's all it takes for Larry Miller to keep his team afloat.

Perhaps many free agents want to join a team that shows progress toward being a contenter.

Although you'd think there'd be a decent Power Forward and Point Guard who would be happy to fill the shoes of Malone and Stockton.
