Gambo: Suns are targeting Marion. Plus an interesting note about the Amare/GS trade.

We need to move on if we are really in rebuilding mode... but anything is possible from the idiots that are in our FO.

Marion back in Phoenix would be just beyond fantastic!

If we could end this offseason by having a Nash/J-Rich/Matrix/Amar'e/Chandler lineup with Barbosa/Studley/Dragic/Lopez/Clark on the bench (and in this case even Hill might consider staying in Phoenix), I would be thrilled!

Of course, it's not going to happen as we will soon be left wondering about some stupid trades that destroy the Suns and will witness a rebuilding season.

Actually, the story says that they are actually in talks.

I bet ole dirk will be elated. Marion is basically has owned dirk defensively going on about 4 -5 years now. I read somewhere that dirk even said he was the best defender in the NBA on him.

That's true. The two star players that Marion has historically had the most success defending are Nowitzki and McGrady. If he becomes Nowitzki's teammate and McGrady is basically out of the league, one of his best qualities is neutralized.

Love the fact that Kerr (on KTAR this morning) said he didn't see Wallace or Pavlovic a part of the team and their contracts are very valuable as trade pieces to get players they want in trades. So, with that said, and Marion and Chandler's names being put out there, would Marion prefer here over the Mavs? Depending on the asking price from Marion (if it's around $6-8 mil) then the Suns could trade Pavlovic and Tucker. If it's higher, say $9-10, then the Suns could deal Wallace for Marion and Parker (S&T). All in all, the Suns would still have their MLE to use elsewhere (say half to Wilcox and part to Frye to shore up 2 more bigs)

Why does Toronto agree to any of those scenarios? There's nothing in it for them except the privilege of taking on some junk contracts.

weare still talking about the Suns FO, Kerr can talk a big game until the cows come home, but the bottom line is that willnot happend...

Sarver said himself he would spend money IF THEY ARE WINNING.. if not we won't, and I don't see their team as it stands like they will be winning anything..

so it looks like MAX we may give Frye the Bi-annual exception of 1.9 million, ans that is about it for this offseason... other than a HORRINDOUS Amare trade that is coming in the next couple days...

Supposedly, Collangello wants to do right by Marion out of respect. Hence, Dallas & Toronto are looking for another trade partner to lessen the burden on Toronto.

Right, but if a deal goes down, Dallas will still have to give up something of value -- a draft pick or a prospect. The Suns don't have those options.

I highly doubt we do give up anything of any real value. Atleast I haven't seen any indications that Dallas will.

The rumored Dallas/Toronto deal has the Mavs losing Stackhouse and his $7.25 mil expiring. Toronto is looking for cap felxibility, but the want to do right by Marion and get him more money. That's why they are looking for a 3rd to facilitate to make the money work. With sending Wallace to Toronto for Marion (S&T $9-10 mil) and Parker (S&T $3-4 mil) we get better defensively and rebounding wise. I'd much rather do that deal that Wallace for Chandler if the Suns can get Wilcox and Frye with the MLE to sure up the bigs.

Nash/Barbosa/Dragic
Rich/Parker/Barbosa
Marion/Clark/Dudley
Amare/Lou/Dudley
Wilcox/Frye/Lopez

Well then the deal won't happen. No one (besides Dallas) is going to pay Stackhouse's buyout just for the hell of it, even if Dallas gives them the money to do it. Explain what the incentive is for this mysterious third team?

Perhaps a first round draft pick. The going rate is about 3 million. :D

Not that this is a huge surprise (or even believable at this point), but the "insiders" at RealGM are saying the GS talks for Amare are officially over.

Could that be, cause they have agreed on the deal wholeheartedly, have everything in black and white, and GSW has Amare's max extension all wrapped up in a pretty bow to submit at midnight tonight when Biedrins BYC status disappears?

Marion used to be poor defender but became a little above average in the last 3-4 years. But we don't need him here. Hill, Dudley and potentially Clark are better defenders, all better than Marion at creating own shots.

Hill is most likely gone, Dudley is a spot up three point shooting role player, and Clark is a rookie. Marion plays extremely well in SSOL as he is a good finisher. All he needs to do is be a slasher and shoot the three when open. He shot over 30% from three point land in Phoenix.

marion is not a slasher. yea when hes on the fast break he can dunk... a slasher is someone that can put the ball on the floor in traffic dunk on someone.
