You'll get there RD,it's just going to take time, yeah I can see it's a touchy subject. LOL!
You are right the fan base is not as strong as a lot of clubs out there. When you haven't had a home playoff game in over 30 years, no championships in over 60 years, the team has moved 3 times, played in a college stadium that was too hot to be in when the season still had hope & only cooled down once the season was over in November for 10 years......................it is going to effect you fan base.
I know Steelers, and Packers like to thump thier collective chests about how "hardcore" their loyalties are, but I would be interested to see what would happen if those fan bases where put to the test. The Packers have the Lombardi era & the Holmgren era with much success.
Ok you can stop right there. This is were you're just wrong. You see,our fan base was put to the test. See the 70's and 80's Packers. We went 23 years without playoff game(not counting the silly '82 strike year). We understand your frustrations more then you think. You see,I grew up watching Lynn Dickey(a great QB for his time) get the snot kicked out of him because we had a crappy offensive line. I grew up watching the 80's packers and their exercise in futility. Yet some how we still have sold every game at Lambeau since it opened('65 I believe). This is why I always remind our younger fans of how spoiled they are when they start whining. Some of them just don't understand how good they have it with watching just Favre and now Rodgers as our QB. .
Oh, I never once said you didn't have a big fan base,I said we(the Packers)have one of the bigger fan bases out there. Big difference there in both of those statement(s).

I agree with you with the Pats, however, they do not handle a candle to Viking fans when it comes to bandwagons fair weather fans.
A few things, Lambeau opened in '57 and the sellout streak started in '61. I think the only game not filled to attendance (but still sold out) was the 1985 Snow Bowl versus Tampa. Only 20,000 people braved the blizzard to make it to the stadium, and many either walked or took snowmobiles.
60 is 3 times as long as 20 years. 60 years is a LIFETIME. That is all I am saying.

That is so cool. I love that about the northern states. Snowmobiles are awesome.

Who cares! I'll say it, the Cardinals don't have a large fan base. Even in the city they play most people are fans of some other team first. Either they support the team from where they used to live; or if they are native or pre-Cardinal Arizonans they support the teams they "grew up with", such as San Diego, Dallas, or Denver, teams that were shown on local area broadcasts; pre-satellite days.Oh I never once said you didn't have a big fan base...
I'm not going to get into the numbers game here. Packers fans travel well.
Better than any team in the NFC for sure and maybe the only team that can rival the Steelers for best in the league. I'll leave it at that.
As far as this post... I'm confused. Would that be a good thing?

Fans of the Cardinals have dealt with more crap about their football team than you (BTP) could ever begin to understand. So yeah, we take it badly when people bad-mouth, belittle, deprecate, depreciate, diminish, discount, disparage, minimize, put down, or write off OUR CARDINALS!
Being a Cardinals fan takes more than a little committment, and not everyone has what it takes. But the guy/girls that have been through the fire with this team for years understand that it's not about the number of fans.
And besides, what else is there to do in Green Bay...
Why would that be a bad thing? Phx area is a transplant area and out numbering opponent fans five to one is a pretty good ratio.
We heard all these claims before NFC championship last season and there was almost no green.
Just curious here, were you alive for those 60 years?
What does that matter ?
Again, I am talking about the fan base as a whole.
I'll use one of your techniques: I never said anything about the state of Wisconsin. So let's get this straight you get upset about what other fans think of you guys yet manage to show hypocrisy/ignorance when it comes to the state of Wisconsin?
LOL,let me guess, you guys really think there is just farm fields and everyone is fat in our state? Labels, they go both ways.
I'll use one of your techniques: I never said anything about the state of Wisconsin. .
Seriously, are you attempting to argue that Green Bay has as many options; i.e.- alternative to Packers games; as cities such as Phoenix? .
Good job of making my point for me!Green Bay is in the state of Wisconsin.
No that would be foolish, however small cities do have advantages over big cities for other reason other then sports. You have to remember the Packer's are not just Green Bay's team. They are the entire state's team. Remember up until to '94 they played three games a year in Milwaukee, they also used to play preseason games in Madison.
The old joke of you could rob someone blind in this state during the game is very true. Not sure if you've ever been to Wisconsin on game day,but it's something visiting fans or transplants always point out how wierd and amazed it is of how we(our towns, cities) live and die with the Packers.

Yeah I mixed that up,'65 was the year they renamed it to Lambeau after he passed away. Old age I guess.
