I think he is, for sure, going to be around next season. Earlier this year his contract renewal for season 6 was leaked. And narratively, its just bad story telling to have put this much into a character to have him die 3/5ths of the way through the story. Especially with so much mystery still untouched.

IMO there are two characters that cannot die, at least not until the end. Jon and Dany.

There are a lot of signs that he won't really die, especially with Melisandre arriving at Castle Black.

I think anything being said by Kit Harrington is misdirection. The producers want the impact of his "death" to be felt without things like his contract undercutting the drama.

Its also worth noting that all these cast members who have died have talked about the gestures and mementos given on their last day on the set, while Kit (the biggest character yet to "die") says they did nothing for him.

IMO, there is no chance he is dead. He will be back within the first or second episode of next season and it will be spoiled when the casting is official.

Noooooooooo! Damn it! Just when you think it's safe to go in the water. I am on vacation but decided to watch it. Man I am pissed.

Just when things were getting interesting and the character was finally going somewhere. This better not be it!

I don't know if anybody caught it but look at the characters eyes as they bleed out. They change color. Wonder if that means something.

There's all kinds of speculation and fan theories, but show watchers could just look at Bran, or the wildling Orell to form their own ideas as to what may happen.

Something I heard from one of my co-workers today:

She knows the actor who plays Jamie Lannister and he had told her and her cousin that "(they're) not going to need me for very much longer." Take that for what it's worth about his character.

Your co-worker's cousin that overheard a conversation from an actor is a source? Start the thread: Jaimie Lannister Wants to be a Cardinal!

Told both of them, not overheard anything. But....

his character has become less significant to the story, particularly with Tyrion gone and his inability to engage in combat. In a way, Jamie is kind of expendable. So it kind of makes sense.

Again, take it for what it's worth. I'm not going AP over here

Are all these spoilers speculation by people who are just watching the show or is some of it clues from the books? I was pretty disappointed when I came here after the finale and basically all it is is spoilers. If it's just speculation from show watchers I would like to read them.

Thanks,
Joe

Its virtually all speculation based on what we've seen on the show. The series is almost entirely caught up to and in some spots has passed the books.

I put mine in spoilers as to not ruin it for anyone who had not watched the finale yet.

Speculation. Basically the show caught up with the books except on one story line that may or may not ever develop:

Below is a spoiler from the book:

Lady Stoneheart

Speculation, but keeping it in Spoiler in case people aren't caught up. Shaggy posted here last week saying he's still on Season 2.

Mid season 4 now. I don't really try to read the spoilers but it doesn't hurt my watching experience if I catch one.

Why did Tyrion kill Shea? Because she betrayed him in court then found him in his dad's bed? Wouldn't she have figured out that Tyrion said those things to her make her leave, as to save her? Didn't get why she went off like that in court.

he could forgive court...his father always got what he wanted from people...he might have even been able to forgive her for sleeping with him,..... but she called the old man, "My Lion"... which is how she referred to him,...that he could not forgive...made him see it all as a sham.

People do realize that we still dont have any resolve as to who Jon Snow's parents are, right? (R+L = J). No way you can take him out of the series right now. Thats the biggest mystery sans the rest of the 7 kingdoms believing the dead are rising.

This, and also...

I have to imagine that there's something to be said about that stare down between Jon and the Night's Prince as he was leaving Hardhome. Also, why else would Melisandre be at Castle Black at this time? There are a number of ways by a number of people Jon can be reincarnated.

I am with you guys. It can't be the end for that character. Too much build up and scenes that to me are setting something up for the future. Plus, there is a new spoiler out there regarding casting for season 6 that points to the possibility it's not the end for the character.

It's still possible that the actor who played Jon Snow, to indeed be done, but the character, after any reincarnation, could look alot different, and thus could be played by someone else. If he's supposed to be that great warrior that the Red Witch thought Stannis was, I'd think some great reincarnated warrior might tend to look different anyways. Who is to say he'd even be in the form of a human?

Also we never saw The Mountain die... and then we saw that big guy in the golden armor called on to protect Cersei after her walk of shame. From what you could see between the gaps in the helmet, he looked weird...I saw shades of blue and red on his face...meaning maybe some sort of undead. Plus it was weird they said he wouldn't speak until he gets vengeance.

Overall the season kind of sucked. It was like they were transitioning to something, but didn't really go anywhere. The last couple of episodes were good for shock value, but I didn't really like the controversial decisions they made on certain characters.

Now we're left with more transition, as if the past season and a half of building up what they were transitioning to, was scrapped. Now they've basically ran out of materials to draw from the books.

Apparently the HBO writers are going to mostly overtake writing for the series on their own, so we're going to basically have a different author then we did the first four seasons, and it's very possible that the lesser quality in season five was because HBO needed to take over the writing... meaning it might not get better, but continue to be more of like how season five was. The show has changed things from the books, and I think we're basically at a fork in the road. The books will go one way, and the series will go another. At least that's what I think. The writer is the writer, but series is the series. Someone needs to write enough material for the series, but the writer seems like he can only write what takes place in a season over the course of 3-4 years.

I agree that this was the weakest season so far. It just ended and I have a hard time recalling much of anything from the first 7 episodes. The last 3 were much improved once a few characters finally reacted to the stuff that had been happening on repeat all season long.

I am beyond bored of Ramsey Bolton torture porn scenes. And not because they're supposedly offensive but because the idea has been beaten into the ground. I get it, he is disgusting, show me something new. Similar to every single interaction between Sam and Gilly. They've been having the same conversation on repeat for about 3 years.

There was a LOT of each of those characters this season and they're some of the least compelling people in the series.

Just a lot of wasted time this season. Dany ruling incompetently for 8 episodes, Briene staring out a window for most of the season, Tyrion spending the first half of the season whining and drunk, Jamie and Bronn with a season long throw away story in Dorne that could have been covered in one or two episodes.

Really, only Jon and Cersie, and perhaps Arya, had story lines that evolved throughout the season. As opposed to everyone else who did next to nothing for the entire season then had their last scene be the only one of much consequence.

Its a lot of complaining on my part, I don't want to give the impression I hated the season, but it didn't touch the heights the rest of the series has reached.

Here are my thought/protections for next season(oh I am caught up, finished the 5th season last night)

I think Jon gets resurrected by the red women as how the other guy resurrected the dude with the eye batch nine times(I'm not good with remember character names so this is how I remember them. :) ) Stanis is not dead. Brien didn't actually kill him, but showed mercy(I know this is a long shot, but I am taking it). Dany eventually will gain the trust of the dothraky, or scares the crap out of them when her dragon comes and saves her again, and adds to her army.

Hated season five.

They managed to botch so many great characters and story lines. What they did to Stannis is downright shameful, and the Dorne was extremely disappointing. The entire northern story was just full of missed opportunities. No Ironborn either.

Just rename the show the "Daenerys Targaryen" show. :bang:
