To all of you amazing people with the ability to read books that have foreknowledge of events in the Game of Thrones television show:

Please carry your conversations about what did or didn't happen in the books to the Books section of the forum. I don't want any spoilers or even "non-spoiler" spoilers at all here. I would like to enjoy the television show conversations in the TV Shows section of this forum. I know that if I haven't seen the current week's episode to avoid this forum like the plague until I'm caught up. I expect that. I also know that if I want to talk about what happens in the books to go to the specific section of the forum about Books and that spoilers there are quite possible. What I don't expect is to see "RW" wink wink and "this diverges from the book in this way" type of comments in the TV Shows forum. I understand folks are excited to talk about this, but it's really annoying to those who are watching the television show on its own merits without reading the books ahead of time.

I'm sure a separate thread for "Those who read the GOT books and want to talk about the TV show" would be very popular and gives those folks an outlet for conversation.

Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

PS I'm no mod so do what you will, but I'm sure you understand where I'm coming from here. Peace.

Note - I put spoilers around Stout's comment.

Book GOT'ers - please do not share any of the book that is not in the show on this thread.

Sorry it appeared to be a spoiler. Wow, I stirred up a hornets nest! My apologies. Just a poorly conceived joke, that's all. I didn't write any kind of spoiler, just trying (and failing) to be clever. I implore you to put away the pitchforks and torches.

Ok, I gave in and started watching this. I'm in mid 2nd season.
where Thorin took over Winter Fall and was chasing down the little Stark kid and came back with burn little kids. I'm liking the show. Getting a little crazy with the dark magic stuff and baby dragons.
Damn good show so far.

Glad I am late as I get to watch each episode after the other and don't have to wait a week or for a new season. :)

Well ********. I kind of saw that happening but I didn't think they'd actually do it. But I guess its to be expected at this point.

Wow.

That was the darkest end to any season of any show ever.

Well, the good news is its hard for the bookies to spoil anything anymore. The show has caught up with, and in some places surpassed, the books.

I ****ing knew it!!!! :bang:

My hope is.....
Melisandre was sent to Castle Black by whatever lord of light she worships to bring Jon Snow back to life to finish the Job Stannis couldn't (and is he even really dead, too)? One of my book buddies told me that Snow's fate is "in the air." Whatever that means.

I don't even know what I want or what to root for anymore....arya is the only hope.

If anything, the last episode turned the entire show on its head.

Arya is now presumably blind, so I doubt she'll be any use. Sansa has escaped Winterfell with Theon, so I guess there's her.

Yeah, I love the show, but I don't have HBO. I just buy the full seasons on amazon after they are done.

That is the way to do it because the show is so addicting and you can just binge watch.

I have done this with a few series and its so much more entertaining going from one show to the next without waiting for a week. I did this with Vikings, and I caught up and now have to wait for next year, and then week after week. I can't stand waiting.

I need to slow down on this show as I am sort of binging it. I just finished up the 4th episode in the 3rd season. Need to slow it down some, but its hard to turn it off. :p

If you have an iPad or an Apple TV you can get HBO now it's 12 bucks a month and you get all the content without needing to have it be apart of your cable package....plus they give a free month.

The actor who plays Jon Snow has already given two interviews in which he said he's dead and he isn't coming back, at least in the HBO series. I guess Martin has left open the possibility of him returning in the books.

You should be clear, he's said the producers have confirmed that he is indeed dead. He is moving on thinking that he won't return, but he hasn't been TOLD that he isn't returning. That could also be producer speak for "don't reveal anything."

My theory (and it's growing more and more) is like someone mentioned above--he will be resurrected by Melisandre. In fact, I am 90% sure that it will happen. Why? She is at the Red Keep, she has nobody to latch onto (Davos certainly is no friend of hers, especially in his grief over Shireen), and there is nobody else at Castle Black she can conceivably continue her story with -- Thorne? He's one of the most hated characters in the show and has no real depth. Olly? Just a kid and he definitely does not have the chops to become a major character. Sam is gone, so there are no characters left at Castle Black to continue Melisandre's story--except a dead (and resurrected) Jon Snow. He would essentially be immortal for the fight against the White Walkers. And think about the Red Priest, Thoros of Myr, who resurrected Beric Dondarrion at the behest of the Lord of Light. It all fits.

We'll see

You cant really rule anything out. Martin said in 2011 to expect the unexpected, even if that means some get resurrected (could also be as Wights or White Walkers, for what we know [we still don't know very much about the undead characters]). Also, it could be a spin job by Kit, or that he will be asked to come back for Season 7.

I think after the Red Wedding, we all should know the perils of falling in love with one character, so whether or not it happens, it isn't a big deal since the show has survived w/o 80% of the Starks.
