IMHO, the winner of game three will most likely win the series.

The Spurs have had a mystique for so long, it gives them a real edge in close games. A Spurs win on Sat could bring the the mystique back and give them a major advantage in the remaining games. A Suns win could shatter the mystique.

In the 2004 Western Conference Semifinals, the Spurs won the first two games against the Lakers before losing their next four.

That mystique should have been shattered in game 2...

Now we need to go and fight for a win.

Game three MAY be decisive. Way to go out on a limb there George.

Seriously, after this thread and the "The Suns are not the Nuggets" thread, you should change your name to CAPTAIN OBVIOUS!

Wow, some other things are becoming obvious too.

I agree, if the Suns win game 3 they not only take home court away from the spurs (after losing it in game 1) but they show the spurs that they can beat them on their home court and take away any mental edge that the spurs have had on them over the last few years. Game 3 is very important to the Suns.

This just in. The Suns may or may not win the series, if they win or lose game 3.

I think that if the suns win game 3 they have an excellent chance to win it all.

But, if they lose game 3 they still have a good chance to win it all. They seem to play harder with their backs to the wall, and then they can be really hard to beat!

I actually think that the suns will lose game 3 because we are going to S.A. and they will make some ajustments with the home crowd. But, I really believe the suns can beat the Spurs and will take game 4 and then come home and win here for the 3rd win and then go to S.A. and win game 4.

I picked them in 6 and I think that is how it will play out.

Even if we lose games 3 and 4, there won't be a decisive game about this team's guts until we face elimination on THEIR court. That means game 6 as long as we win game 5 at home.

I know that seems obvious but I think you know what I mean and just can't state it properly. If we steal one game there this week, then the "guts" decisive game will be game 5 as SA will scratch and claw to stay alive and we will be pressured to hold our gain.

Obvious or not, I do not like the Suns chances if they lose game 3 - really don't like their chances. As good as they looked on Wed, they looked just as good in game 4 two years ago and couldn't win the next game at home.

It takes more than one game to break the spell the Spurs have had on the Suns. A loss would bring back all the old insecurities that Nash mentioned after game 1. It would also mean that the Suns energy burst was a one shot deal.

Maybe this is obvious, but I'm not going to be convinced the vampire is dead until the stake is buried deep in its heart.

If they win either of the next two games, the Suns are in good shape. Winning three out of four after losing game three would be daunting, but it's not out of the question.

Not impossible, but a bad loss in three IMHO would make it incredibly harder.

On the flip side, a big win in Game 3 and the Suns might very well win in five (yes it is obvious that this is the only way they could win in five). The key is that the Spurs home court dominance is another major aspect of their mystique, so a loss in three would be double jolt for them.

Why would that be? If the Sun lose game 3 but win game 4 then will you be back on the Suns winning? Don't understand your logic. Most people called this a 6 or 7 game series. Meaning in order for it to go that long it would go back and forth. So far that has held true....1-1. So when did a 2-1 series lead either by the Spurs or Suns constitute series over????

I could make my prediction for Game 3 as I did so perfectly for Game 2 ..... but then I'd get called Skippy again.

Obviously. ;)

My whole point was the difficulty of breaking the Spurs mystique and its hold on the Suns players.

I agree that if the Suns win game three, it will be decisive in that they re-gain home court and perhaps a temporary psychological edge much in the way the Spurs had after game one.

That makes game four a nearly must-win for the Spurs.

So long as the Suns win at least one of the two games in SA, they will be in the driver's seat.

I myself believe this series goes to 7. The Mavs had the Spurs down 3 games to one last year and had to scrape and claw a series win in game seven after they had the Spurs down to a 20 point deficit in game seven.

hmmmm, I'm thinking there's a generation gap/communication misunderstanding here, seeing as I think that I'm apparently the one who called you a "damn skippy", to which I think you replied that it wasn't polite to cuss to a lady, which I complete misunderstood until I just read this post. When someone says: "You damn skippy!" that's not calling someone a "damn skippy" (whatever that means) - it's a goofy way of saying "I AGREE!".

and if wasn't me - well, then, IGNORE THE ABOVE!

Prey tell though, was your prediction for Game 1 perfect as well? And I just have to ask looking at your profile (and this IS NOT meant to be offensive, just pure curiosity) - are you really 104 years old?!

You keep talking about mystique. What mystique? It's not like the Suns sit around in awe of the Spurs. They just took game 2 and beat them to a pulp. I would say if there was any of this so cold mystique it's already gone. Your the only one that has ever described the Spurs has having a hold on the Suns.

If anything the Suns just needed to get over the mental hurdle of believing they could take the Spurs. That has more to do with confidence then being in awe of the Spurs.

Having said that, the Suns know all they need is to split to get home court advantage back. So knowing all they need to do is split, why would they give up or be in awe over a loss in the next game. The Suns know all they need is one and it doesn't matter if it comes in game 3 or 4.
