Good, fun game to watch. Never really got nervous about the outcome after the Floyd TD catch.

Great to see Bowles come up with an answer to stopping a premier TE. Don't know that it would work if the Falcons had their top 2 WR's playing.

Duke is special but I get why BASK are nervous about him getting too many snaps.

CP showed what he can do when given a running game and some decent protection.

How long has it been since the Cards won a game going into their bye week? Get back to 100% healthy Fitz.

Note for the game

Falcons got 17 first downs by the pass.

I bet most of them were on third down. We could stop them for 2 downs and played soft on third. Couldn't figure that out.

What?

My BP was getting really high there for a while. Remembering the Bears game, :bang:

I remember it too well. I just had a different vibe during this game. With the Duke making big plays and CP throwing strikes I felt the O would not throw it all on the D's back. The D was playing very well and even though they were giving up 1st downs too frequently for my taste they still had the answers when it mattered.

Even after the Falcons scored and recovered the onside kick I wasn't nervous.

I'm not BA's biggest fan but he is not the idiot that was Denny Green so the Bears game only came to my mind after reading your 3 (?) posts about it. :D

Didn't mean to ruin your day. :D

No worries, it's almost impossible to ruin my day after a Cards win and especially when it was by such a big margin.

That game was probably the teams worst loss ever but the silver lining was it marked the eventual end to the DG era.

You have to be kidding me? I have never seen as many negative comments about a new DC as we had here with Bowels until just a few weeks ago. As for me being all over the place, you've got that one right. I liked the direction we were going but thought we had much further to travel to get there. I was wrong by a mile.

Steve

Our defense has been better that I thought it would, but let's not crown Bowles yet. Vs. Detroit, San Fran, Seattle, and New Orleans (some of the better offenses in the league) our defense has only held one of those teams UNDER 30 points. Again, it has looked better than I thought it would, but it still isn't great.

Yes, but those offenses got some short fields too. And our O went 3 and out a lot, so they wore down at the end. No excuses, but that put them in some tough spots.

they also completely shut down the Panthers who outside of our game, have put up pretty huge numbers the last four games..against bad teams, but still big numbers consistently.

Haven't read every page here... how was the call on Mathieu defined as a PI on him when Gonzalez clearly had his arm around Mathieu's neck during the throw?

Worst call since the end of the GB/SEA game with replacement refs. Awful. Terrible. Wrong. Mike Carey and his crew needs to be replaced permanently. Disgusting.

Notice how FOX didn't go to Mike Peireira on that call, but the did on a super-obvious review a few minutes later? Taking care of the shield.

next time CP gets hit in the head on a sack they are going to call unnecessary roughness on him for not getting his head out of the way of the defender.

I have a question. How was Frostee Rucker's sack not a violation of the "Tom Brady" rule? He didn't technically "hit" Matty Ice in the legs, but he basically lunged and wrapped him up around his feet. I fully expected this god-awful officiating crew to throw the flag on that awesome play.

I was at the game so did not have advantage of any commentary except for the fans around me... but Gonzalez arm was clearly around HB's neck...Thanks

Yeah. My point is we are a top 3rd defense, not the top 10 defense that some seem to be insinuating.

Bowles has done a better job than I imagined he would and that is without question.

You lost me here. You're contesting the difference between top 3rd and top 10? Wouldn't top 3rd mean you were one of the top 10.66 teams? Am I missing something?

Clearly, we are in the bottom .66 of the best 10.66 defenses of the league. How are you not getting this?

Anyone? I really want to know how we got away with this one because I might just have a misunderstanding of the rule.

The fifth provision of Rule 12, Section 2, Article 12 (roughing the passer) says that: "A rushing defender is prohibited from forcibly hitting in the knee area or below a passer who has one or both feet on the ground, even if the initial contact is above the knee. It is not a foul if the defender is blocked (or fouled) into the passer and has no opportunity to avoid him."

Was that not considered a "forcible" hit?

Seriously, that's how I thought he meant it the first couple of times I read it. But, I really doubt any of us are that confident of our scouting skills that we can identify a team as not being in the top 10 all the while insisting it is in the top 11. Not much margin for error.
